The only way they pirates are represented is through the barbary states, and they can only raid the mediterranean.
I know other nations can privateer, but that's not piracy.

Adding Pirates that roam the seas pillaging treasure fleets and ocean coasts, with events after dealing with them or nations that spawn if they are not dealt with would add more flavor to peace time and colonization, while also making navies more significant.

Just been humming and "arr"'ing, thinking about more applications while this thread is still blowing up.

Cicilia has turned up before in suggestions usually centric to the ethnic groups within southern anatolia and their representation in the game (as well as sub groups of 'turkish), but as a privateer releasable for Ramazan (Adana) / Karaman (Icel) for a notable history of piracy with a Armenian culture and privateering they could be a viable tag for the region besides cyprus and greek minors for privateering over the Aleppo node. Cicilia was only really handed over to the Ottomans at a relatively unknown time in the 15th century likely before date, which would make it relevant to representation either by rebels or a core attached to Armenian or other culture in the province.

  • Which is to say we have 'Pontic' for instances as a sub-culture of greek when aligned under a empire rank, so it shouldn't be so much of a problem for Ottoman blobbing but moreso just culturally converting the area to not have seperatists & pirates blow up in your face.

Colloqially it was the headquarters of pirates operating out of Crete and the Balaeres ever since Roman times onward and in returning 'home' they coined the name 'Cicilian Pirates'
