I have several times noticed armies behaving like pinball machines. For example, currently playing Sweden (ICG) the Hansa landed a small hostile force in Skåne. I have armies in all surrounding areas and the small Hansa troop takes a severe beating BUT never dies/surrender. They keep bouncing from one province to another for several years. Surely this must be a bug? Has anyone noticed anything similar?
Thanks

They can enter any province where there already is an army. If they are small and you have forts in all surrounding povinces, move your armies out and they will dissappear. Unless they are strong enough, then they will siege.

Pinballing armies might not die. When I was playing Crimea, I defeated their army and the remnants retreated. All that was left were arty and maybe a leader. They pinballed among three provinces where I left cav to hit them. They never died in two years or so of war. The battles were instantenous so I could never do anything except watch them bounce around. This is pretty stupid as retreating artillery should easily get slaughtered by cav.

Yes I call it a bug.

We all know that the pinball army are simply the remnants of a defeated army. Most "pinball armies" only have a few men left (mostly demoralized and trying to retreat or go back home). So Paradox, can you please just get rid of them? They have no purpose, they cannot win another battle. They have no purpose but to annoy players, get rid of them automatically.

I have heard somewhere that there is a phase in which the cavalry follows the defeated army and try to slaughter them... What happened to that phase?

Pinball armies tend to lock up a lot of men just bouncing, which is even worse than they just being there getting scared off.
