Hello so my question is about the Pillage Capital mechanic witch before the patch was super op and now it's pretty much useless outside of 1-2 uses early game.

Is there any plans to change it again and find some sort of middle ground, so it's not complete waste of space but also not too op?

I would like for example to be able to pick witch state i want to give the stolen goods (dev) into.

Please share your opinion !

Same fate as the expel minorities? Once it's left out, it's unlikely to see a light.

Honestly, what I want is the option to select how the feature works before the game.
1. Expel minorities will change the culture of the source province.
2. Centralize and pillage capital will increase the development by a flat value.
If it's the balance problem, they can disable the achievement by turning it on.

I'm playing the game anyway so it matters little to me. However, I feel sorry for the people who bought the DLC because of that feature.

Pillage capital was nerfed? How?
When it was introduced all pillaged dev was added to your capital so you could have 1000 dev or more there. Now pillaged dev is counted as virtual mana and this mana is used to dev your capital so it's hard to get over 50 early game

Now pillage is useful for Ethiopia - you can move capital at the reduced cost so you can use it to develop more provinces

If this game gets a Custodian Initiative like Stellaris, maybe. Otherwise? Probably not, or not much use.

You can move capital then pillage again, also mountains and steppe capitals are really good to pillage as its total mana cost not total thats used
Concentrate means lower coring costs and pillage means ae is broken down into sections

i like it, use it quite a bit myself on nations allied to the war target. I also like using it against uber natives with 38 dev provines. Thanks for the dev, Noongah!

dev in the capital is free; dev is foreign capitals I have to pay to core (or have one of my poor vassals core it and then annex it myself). The only real downside is its a surprisingly large amount of AE, which can get you into trouble sometimes if you are skirting near the borderline.

expel minorities is completely worthless, however. You can only use it on a area that has already been conquered, cored, and lost all seperatism. In other words, its completely pacified, and it REDUCES your dev, and gives it to your colony! It was useful early as a cheap way to culture convert /give free dev to your colony / slightly faster colonization, but now its all negatives, no upsides.

It still has solid value to rapidly build up your capital to ~30-35 dev, and you can squeeze a bit more out of it when you get development efficiency. I still regularly run 90-120 dev in my capital from Pillage and Concentrate around 1800 if my games go on for that long. And honestly, I don't want it to ever return to what it was. Neither Pillage nor Concentrate. Making your capital province the #2 GP if you had released it was fun for a meme once or twice, but it was completely stupid. The diminishing returns also make way more sense from an immersion perspective: What exactly does pillaging a bunch of yurts in the Gobi Desert do to increase the development of a 75-dev metropolis down in Fatehpur Sikri?

No.

Its purpose was to be put on the DLC advertisement, because there weren't enough points to advertise. Now that the main DLC sale has gone, it is no longer relevant. To prevent any game imbalance, it has been nerfed into uselessness. It was always a bad idea, to implement development stealing in a game where the greatest cities in the world are 7/7/7. You can only balance it withing a 10-15 development window before it starts to get silly.

There’s witches in the game? Seriously though, I think changing it to add dev to random provinces would be a better implementation. It would need to be balanced. Allowing the player to pick which province gets the additional dev would probably be too time consuming to implement for the developer.

I wish it was nerfed after Origins. Kilwa gets −25% Local Gold Depletion Chance Modifier from mission and −75% from estate. It would be possible to have 1000 dev gold province without risk of depletion

No, there isn't. There is only one province that can get to this level and I think it's intentional. Currently it's hard to get more than 50 production so it's not so OP

Imagine the inflation...
The same estate privilege which reduces depletion by 75% also reduces inflation by 75% too. So it'd be less terrible than you'd think.

Exactly this. Pillage capital is fine how it is now. Everyone just thinks it is useless now because it used to be too powerful, and the comparison is quite stark. Like many minor features, it should be useful in some scenarios but not most scenarios.
