The pic of this ship from the same class would suggest you are fairly correct.

I think we have a winner
Thanks to you putting me on the Balkan trail:p I thought the situation was that the buyer couldn't pay and the builder ended up selling it to the highest bidder.

The two pictures are taken from a bomber attacking it. It survived the encounter but was finally scuttled after running aground.

Hm, from the looks of it it is some sort of river-going craft. Almost looks like a barge.

Been looking through both Japanese naval and army craft and still have not found a match... This is a tricky one :)

It's not supposed to be like that, but rather ended up like that.

Great work SchwarzKatze, and great (awesome, indeed!) ship pic posted afterwards :). Nice guessing everyone else as well :).

I deffo agree people should feel free to post up new pics when the last one has been guessed. That said, as I'd say Naisel is on the money (very impressive work :)), here's the best ship I could come up with, with a Christmas reference in one of the ship names in the class, Merry Christmas all :).

Edit: For a second clue, I had to expand the scope to ships that served in the timespan of HoI4, not just those there at the start - apologies for any confusion.
