And according to the tip its probably the French Carrier Béarn.

It is french for sure, look at the Sailors hats! So +1 for Bearn

The Bearn it is, nice work all . The tail of the plane had the tricolour on it, which would have made it far too easy, hence the blurring out.

Here's another one - again a bit vintage. The clue is that this vessel, at the time of the first photo, contained a squash court and a cinema (I suspect, however, that they had been removed by the time of HoI4 and the second pic, although would perhaps lead to greater morale?)....

It was indeed the royal "yacht" HMS Renown. HMS Repulse also had a squash court but no cinema. That photo of a baby kangaroo must have been when she visited Australia in 1920.

Fun fact - he's actually a wallaby named Digger and was a gift to the Prince of Wales in 1920 but died on the way back to Britain and is buried at Government House on Trinidad. Wallabies are related to kangaroos but smaller. He looks rather young but I'm not sure what specific type he is.

Well, it seems a little like cheating to use it, but Google's pointed me at the Estonian Kalev class. Which seem like some pretty interesting boats I'd never heard about before, particularly the Lembit.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying this thread, so hopefully no-one will mind if I throw in a picture. As a clue, this photo was taken prior to HoI's start, and at least one thing will have changed since.

Spot on, although hopefully not the most challenging one you've had so far . Very cool you've been there . If I ever make it over stateside, I'll definitely be visiting some of your excellent museum ships. It's a shame* the Iowa's came on the scene so late that they didn't get a lot of 'action' in the traditional sense, with their main armament mostly used for shore bombardment.

* Purely from an armchair general's curiousity point-of-view, obviously we want as little actual warfare going on as possible from a broader perspective.

Hahahaha! There were actually quite a few submarines with 40mm AA (but not a huge number that had a British look to them, hence the clue still being useful even if Google wasn't feeling particularly helpful ). Here's another sub (and the next pic to guess) that shows them quite clearly .

Not this one, the Italians tended to have 13.2mm MGs for their AA on the subs of the period, although there were one or two with 3inch AA and a few with 20mm.

Actually, your photo may be of the Missouri but there's no connection with Steven Seagal... or at least only in fiction.

The movie may have been set on an Iowa class ship but was actually filmed in Mobile, AL aboard the USS Alabama. There's a reason why some of the scenes are set in fog LOL. Some CGI work makes up the differences, and the mid-sections, armaments and interiors are similar enough.

Hey, at least it's not Pearl Harbor with intercuts between actual footage and then-current US navy missile frigates and destroyers.

Aye, sorry, agree it's a purely fictional association. I was just trying to think of a clue and struggling, and clearly watched too many bad action movies when I was younger . That we'd both agree that Under Siege is a better movie than Pearl Harbour does not say good things about the latter!

Dutch perhaps? I remember reading a website dedicated to Dutch submarines a while back, and they kept adding and removing their boats deck guns over the course of their service so I wouldn't be surprised if they had that combination on a boat or two at some point.
