Here's another few provinces. I'm less familiar with these areas, and most of this is straight from a few minutes on Wikipedia. All of these haven't been named yet according to the Provinces file on Google Docs.

Provinces 260 - 263 are the focus here, organised into the Duchy of Ridge and Valley.

260 - Huntsville - Named for the largest city in the region. Four baronies is probably good.

Baronies in Huntsville:

Barony of Redstone - US Army base in Huntsville, best known for its rocketry arsenal.
City of Huntsville - Largest city in the area
Bishopric of Scottsboro - County seat and small city in the area
Barony of Fort Sand - Fictional - Named for the Sand Mountain region. An old River and Hill fortress.
City of Decatur - Large city in this region.
Bishopric of Guntersville - County seat
City of Albertville - Small city in the area.

261 - Chattanooga - Named for its largest city, as I wouldn't expect any of the dam lakes in this area to last the apocalypse and survive centuries later. At least four holdings - An important city plus a strategic area.

Baronies in Chattanooga:

Barony of Lookout Mountain - Named for Lookout Mountain, this place is a strategic military site (and also a tourist trap).
City of Chattanooga - Largest city in the area
Bishopric of Dayton - Small city, but best known for the infamous Scopes Monkey Trial. Why not make it a bishopric?
Barony of Missionary Ridge - Site of Civil War battle, so I guess the River and Hill governors would have fortified it.
Bishopric of Dunlap - County seat in area
City of Jasper - Town in the area, county seat
City of East Brainerd - Suburb of Chattanooga.

262 - Clinch - Named for the Clinch River. Four to five holdings, depending on how you want to balance things.

Baronies in Clinch:
Barony of Oak Ridge - Manhattan Project site and minor city, fortified in the earliest days of River and Hill
City of Knoxville - Large city in the area
Bishopric of Neyland - Named for Neyland Stadium, the football stadium of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Strange, but I can imagine people in this era having associated it with learning, and thus it evolved from there.
City of Crossville - Small city in the area
Barony of Sparta - Small town-a barony because IT.IS.SPARTA!
Bishopric of Wartburg - County seat
City of Kingston - Town in area

263 - Etowah - Etowah seems like the best name for it, given my philosophy of naming for geographical features (Etowah River). I can't really find anything better for this corner of modern northwest Georgia. Three to four holdings - A fairly average area

Baronies in Etowah:
Barony of Ringgold (capital) - Built near an Appalachian Pass and close to Chattanooga, I'd expect it to be an important fortification of River and Hill and the home of this region's commissioners even in the Meridian age. Lots of Civil War battles around here, apparently, so it's a strategic site.
City of Dalton - Second-largest city in this area
Bishopric of Rome - The largest city in the area. Calling it a bishopric because Rome, Italy is one in vanilla CK2.
City of Cartersville - Town in the area.
Barony of Fort Mountain - A mountain apparently known for stone structures near the peak. Could've been fortified by a River and Hill governor into an actual fortress/castle.
Bishopric of Cedartown - Town in the area. Bishopric for no real reason.
City of Calhoun - Town in the area.

That'll be it for now. I think I'd like to request access to the Google Docs page at this point. It'd be a bit easier if I could use this thread exclusively for discussion on direction for the mod rather than for naming.

PS will we able to play knight erent type character in this game?

In Lore the Union became elective after the governors of Ohio, Virgne, Georgia and the Carolinas and the Unionist of the River, fearing the ascension of Lazarus I [Nephew of Geremiah and Governor of Alabama, zealot and an ambitious man who had been publicly speaking in favour of the restoration of the New Jerusalem and the overthrow of congressional oppression.] to the throne, preempted his coronation by delaying his passage through the appalacian mountains and electing and confirming Allender I, son of the Governor of Ohio and grandson of Geremiah I 'the Great'.
Establishing the Elective Succession and provoking the Lazarine Wars [Named for him] which would dominate the next 400 years of history. By the time of the game Georgia and the Union of the River no longer exist, and the Carolinas have left the Union. So of the traditional Electors only Ohio and Virgne are left and have remained as the only two for longer enough to be considered the only electors. So a President can be more easily disputed if not confirmed by either Ohio or Virgne.

Knights wont be playable, but hopefully once theyre established you'll be able to have your sons go off and join them, with the titles set as priest titles so you wont be able to be inherited by them. Or if that doesnt work set events to give the holy order title to someone else with the trait if its held by anyone landed.
As in CK2, you play landed characters who have proper jobs to be getting on with rather than running about serving in other peoples armies and chasing bandits. But the trait that 'knights' get from having served in one of the companies stays, and will serve like the Crusader or Haji trait in making the character be respected for having once been one.

Hopefully a better ruler, maybe a better warrior, maybe an idealistic romantic fool or a maimed embarrassment, everythings got to have roundabouts for its swings.

Also heres a first go at, Crusader Catholic and Congressional religion icons.

for natural things like Lookout Mountain or places with serious modern forts/dams/giant concrete things thatll last forever/etc, story important ones too [Starhaven, Mexico-City etc], it might be good to have a 'natural fortress' building which can only be built in a list of provinces [building representing restoring/renovate rather than building it].
Also, what needs to be done on getting the mod to the next step where it can start moving forwards? I think ive run out of things i can think of to do that you dont need the map for.

Okay, I'm alive.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to do any work for a while due to issues. I'll try to get a link to all the work I've done so far (basically the maps and a few cultural files), but I'll be out for a little bit. Huge thanks to everyone who seems to have helped out in my impromptu absense there (metainvader and Ataulf and others).

EDIT: I was working on finishing the South/Central American cultural files and names, as well as a new topographic map to replace the one I'd been using. I plan to take those up again when I'm free/have a computer capable of it. I didn't have any plans to start work on a terrain map, though, so if someone else wants to start work on that, they should.

Interesting job on the religion symbols. I'd assume that for Congressional/Judicial nations we'd need need to change the COA textures. Like in the Game of Thrones mod it throws in lore-specific things like seven-pointed stars for the dominant Faith of the Seven religion, we could have our own lore-specific symbolism on the random COAs? For Congressional (if I get this straight), things like torches, flames, lamps to represent the carrying of civilisation to the world. I'd expect they wouldn't use a lot of the medieval European symbolism like what the random generator coughs up (generally in awful colours I know I'd be embarrased to display).

for natural things like Lookout Mountain or places with serious modern forts/dams/giant concrete things thatll last forever/etc, story important ones too [Starhaven, Mexico-City etc], it might be good to have a 'natural fortress' building which can only be built in a list of provinces [building representing restoring/renovate rather than building it]...

I didn't even consider dams as potential fortresses, silly me. I'd almost expect many surviving dams to be looted for building materials much like Roman aquaducts were, but that could be a good excuse to get rid of the massive amount of dams in parts of the country (like the Tennessee region) and keep it a tad more balanced. I think a new name for dams would be cool. Riverwalls, maybe? I don't know.

Hopefully a better ruler, maybe a better warrior, maybe an idealistic romantic fool or a maimed embarrassment, everythings got to have roundabouts for its swings.

Also heres a first go at, Crusader Catholic and Congressional religion icons.

I'm no artist and this could just be my dirty mind, but do the two crusader catholic icons look slightly .... phallic to anyone else?

I was thinking of splitting them in two, so the Christian imagery gets used by the Catholics and the Animals to get used by the Democratics. Atleast until specific things get added to the list.

Basically, in the Early Middle Ages there were Roman Forts all about the place, and later states formed around them as they served as 'natural' capitols so things built up around them. So i was just think about what would be for that, with Dams, i was imagining that they might no longer hold lakes behind them [as that requires constant maintenance] so a Dam that had lost its lake would essentially be a massive concrete wall, controlling a valley or something like that, so would serve the role of being a 'naturally' defensible location and so would in the warlord days have been a point to fight over and place of power, leading to it by the time of the setting, be an important settlement.

Its the sword from the Shiites, however on further thought, a sword alone would probably be better. As Swords are already crosses so a sword stood upright like a cross would probably would better and be more distinctive than the other cross with a sword stuck on it.

This mod looks to be great! If there's any help you need with basic research and fact-checking, shoot me a PM, I'd enjoy getting this going ASAP.

Thanks
I think this is where that sort of work is needed https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Am2wqEYnTGMRdC04U19mbFZLZ0lneHdqRXRoM09hOXc#gid=11

Technically, Christian Europeans made swords look like crosses. Many pre-Christian swords did not have the cross-like cross-guard. ;)

But I digress, up-right sword is probably for the best.
