Give me the actual province map (not just a mock-up) and I can start working on the other maps. It might take a while, but I can get it done.

I'm currently working on the maps. All of them that I have are in a workable state right now (except that my working version of topography.bmp is missing Central America. I have a backup, though). I have pseudo-finished versions (meaning that they'll work, but could use some fine-tuning) of provinces.bmp and topography.bmp. Rivers.bmp exists, but it's causing weirdness when loaded. I have an out of date positions.txt, but I also have a generator for it that creates a functional one that I could run on the newer provinces.bmp that I have. I've not started on terrain.bmp yet. I just some trouble in real life, but I was planning on starting work on that after I finished with the names of Central America.

The most up to date provinces.bmp is attached in png form.

provinces.png

EDIT: The problem is mostly that, having never worked on the map files like this before, I'm not sure what the game needs to run. At the very least, the province data has to be changed (both history and in Common) in addition to the map files I already have here.

I think you need the province, terrain, river and topo maps, and at least one count somewhere. That's what I think anyway.

I think you only need 1 count. For my mod Lux Invicta the game generates a gazillion counts.

I think we ought aim for getting duke-above titles worked out by hand though. But thats not needed for the testing release.

I'm a linguist, so if y'all need any help designing the languages or making sure the sound changes involved are realistic, just send me a PM.
Ataulf

If you want to help out thatd be great. We still have the central american and caribbean languages to do. maybe some of the south american ones too.

Anyway, does anyone know how barony religion-specific laws work? Like how with the new patch moslem temple baronies function as castles in terms of succession and playability. One thing i was just think is that if they can work differently and its a simple thing to change then that might be something to do.
Then maybe the Plainsmen could have it working like moslems do to represent the lack of an organised clergy or clergy equivalent class or any universal organisation in their society.
Caribbeans could have temples as cities [which might as well mean unchanged until cities get a DLC], representing 'League Cities' or something of that kin, cities that are part of a multi-national trade league as opposed to Cities which are local and answer just to the local lord, as that links in with the idea of a merchant based society and rationalises the system where income goes elsewhere, unless they dont have a RH and then itd just be an excuse for them to share localisation.
Latin Catholics might have Cities and Temples using Temple rules and investiture succession and the 'barons' of them given priest status. Temples representing mostly rural Church land where the local authority is the Abbot who answers to the church, localised to Monastic/Monastery. With Cities as urban Church where the local authority is the Bishop/Dean who answers to the Church on paper but in reality has to work with the city/guild leaders representing Burgher power in that province, localised to Parish or Archdeaconry or something.
So that two of the three barons would be priests, and with investiture that might actually make them very different to play, and if not atleast make them feel different.
And Democratics would be unchanged, judicials too. Probably all barbarians would go with moslem temples as second baronies.
If its modable that is. If not no worries. It just seems to be a small thing to do which could help the groups stand apart from each other.

Hey guys! This looks pretty cool. I've tried to read most of the thread, particularly Arcaul's posts on Canada, and Mr. Capitalist's posts on the Hurric Cultures. Being from South-Western Ontario this is of some particular interest to me. An impression I've gotten due to the sort of conflicting zones of interest is that Ontario has been somewhat ignored in so far as detail is concerned. Its possible that I might have missed something and be wrong in this.

Is the intention that the area is supposed to be Judicial in ideation but more Hurric culturally? I've sort of been glancing over the documents you guys have up. Is the previously termed Canadien culture now Konaden?

Maybe I missed this, but I'd be interested in seeing a post or document on the conventions of the Hurric conlang. Also, I'm more than willing to fill some of this stuff in if Mr. Capitalist or Arcaul are otherwise occupied. Not trying to step on any toes though, if everything's already all planned out I'm confident it will be excellent and more than content to leave it in your hands.

I'll answer in more detail later, but yes it is supposed to be a region caught between the Hurrian culture to the west and the Quebecois culture to the east. However, they had originally played a large role in the Hurrian culture until the wars with Quebec when it became more of the March territory.

Like I said, more info to come after work.

I realize you guys aren't at this stage yet, but I couldn't resist doing a rough version of a potential county shield for my hometown of London (which I think is county 337, in any case, it's the one whose number isn't in keeping with the surrounding counties).

Edit: Decided to try another county shield design. I hope it's obvious those are antlers :p

Thats cool, any story behind it? Its a tree right?

Also for flags, ive discovered that alot of people are drawing tattoo designs and alot of them are simple black and white designs perfect for heraldry so if when it comes to that you want an animal that heraldry doesnt have thats a resource to consider.

It is indeed a tree :p

I based the tree off of a slightly different Iroquois flag (usually it's just a boxy tree without any other bits) that I saw while out rollerblading this morning. London is known as the Forest City - an appellation it gained due to its location in the middle of an impenetrable forest at its establishment. The Lieutenant-Governor intended for it to be the capital of Upper Canada, but the Governor-General rejected the possibility, saying "access to London would be limited to balloon". The current city logo is also a tree, but I felt it could do with at the least a different kind after a couple thousand years. The symbol in the middle is an altered version of that of a local college (although looking at it, it also kind of looks like farmland, bonus?).

Currently its not under any threat, theres work going on it, its just slow as its a big task. If you want to do something towards it just ask and we'll check that its not something anyone else has got their name down for and that'd be great.

Haha. Unfortunately I don't have much modding experience (just made a decision for forming Hannover in eu3), so I'm not sure I'd be of any use.

Why is the Thumb area of Michigan connected to to the rest of Northern Michigan? They're quite different economically and geographically and not to mention an awkward looking province. I'd say give the Thumb to Detroit.

I am not sure what you mean. The thumb has the same religion as Northern Michigan and the UP because it is religiously close to the raiders from Lake Superior. The culture is the same as the Detroit area. De iure it is part of Ducal Northern Michigan (not the UP) because it creates a balanced Duchy. Kingdom-wise it is part of the Kingdom of Superior, which control the region for a decently long period of time so in-game you can imagine that the provinces because de iure Superior. And at game start the region is a single Duchy, a successor to the Kingdom of Superior. It isn't a single country because of its cultural ties or religion, it is a single country because some warlord holds it together.
