I mean I know that you are above forum rules and all that and I do think that the OP is being a little rude, but it is a little in bad taste to post that right after a Mod asked everyone to be nice to each other.

I love the name Cossacks though, I prefer the more descriptive titles over the ambiguous ones like common sense. In all honestly though I can't say its that big a deal what the expansion is called most of the time I call them by their patch number anyway.

Really, i prefer the names for CK2's expansions (with the exception of "Way of Life"). "Sword of Islam". "Legacy of Rome". "Rajas of India". THESE are the names!

To be honest I don't particularly "like the name" (Conquest of Paradise had such an awesome name that everything that came after just pale in comparison)
but it's a name I am more concern with whats inside it lol, and i like what I see (Dat Tengri)

I'll agree that "The Cossacks" is just a really bland name. Like "The Republic" in CK2, it doesn't evoke much of anything at all.

I actually think so, too, especially for one that deals with estates. But English Parliament came last expansion, and the Magna Carta is out of the time frame.

Well, kind of, if you discount the fact it was part of the English constitution for the entire timeframe (and IIRC still is).

Yeah, I totally agree. I mean, the OP's kind-of hysterical rank against the expansion name is ridiculous. Frankly "Europa Universalis" is far more questionable than any expansion, as a name, in the current academic environment. (The fact that this doesn't come up here often is a testament to the community's general non-hysterical nonchalance to history, terminology, and perspective, in what is probably the most academically useful video game I've ever played.)

That being said, I do enjoy idly speculating on expansion names, when I have time to kill. For my money, CKII Expansions should be from Classical/Middle Ages sources, often as the nicknames of people (it's a person-centric game). EUIV should be Middle Ages/Renaissance focused, mainly books, also arts other artistic endeavors. For CKII, e.g., instead of "The Horse Lords" (a fine title) the expansion could be: "The Scourge of God". For EUIV, instead of "The Conquest of Paradise" (another fine title) you could just have "Paradise Lost."

My favorite theoretical expansion titles would be:

• Magna Carta (/The Social Contract)
  • Potentially for a DLC with internal politics as the core expansion
• The Prince
  • Probably best for an espionage & ruler traits expansion
• Leviathan (/The Social Contract)
  • A cultural units/uniqueness & government-type customization expansion (because we should be able to pick 2.5% discipline/-5% ACT "Enlightened Absolutism," etc.)
• Encyclopédie (should be a minor DLC on top of a major patch)
  • For a damn UI upgrade, and more story events, especially in the post-Westphalia period.
• Spirit of the Laws
  • An overhaul of unrest & autonomy (Autonomy >50% should decrease unrest. <50% should increase; increase/decrease button should have no one-time big-modifier effect). The introduction of passive emergent, VeF style effects of stability (addition, not overhaul)
• Critique of Pure Reason
  • For a religions overhaul, that gives other decentralized religions some of the same choice aspects as Protestantism, in different ways (like a combination of Piety and Church Power)
• The Ethics
  • An expansion of diplomacy & internal politics, connecting unrest, stability, and unity to a nations broader actions in the world, beyond just overextension. Total overhaul of "releasing subjects" - this should represent a natural change in national identity, akin to non-acceptance of a culture, once Leviathan overhauls cultures.
