No, in fact that's quite a terrible idea.

I agree with all you guys. migration should be moddable and if not at least the hardcoded code should at least consider factors like political reforms, prosperity of a country, and the current political system (democracy=we come, dictatorship=we don't come). Wars should at least decrease immigration to the countries that are involved with. But i'll be a bit more heretic. I've noticed that with the current economical crisis in Argentina some spanish people returned from argentina to spain in order to find a better future. But even worse in a last month's article in New York Times noticed that about 15000 irish from NY moved back to ireland since the economical crisis in the stock market in 2000 beacause they think ireland is a better place to find a good job. So i say why not if you have Holstein with good reforms, a democratic political system, plurality, full citizeship, not see some yankees immigrants begging for work? That would be the the best revenge for me. and what is more? I would turned those yankees to soldiers, declare war to the US and slaughter them just like US does with our immigrants.
mod it mod it mod it please!
I have dreams to accomplish!:)

I'd much rather see the national bonus done away with and have a system where immigrants are attracted to areas based on infrastructure, employment, national values, climate, etc. Thus a player properly playing the US could get the right amount of immigrants but a nation like Brazil could get more if played a certain way. I know the current system is supposed to be based on those issues but it doesn't seem to work as a lot of US immigrants move into the slaveholding Upper South while ignoring job opportunities in the North due to a) the higher profitibility of tobacco compared to grain and B) the captial bonus. Immigrants should be dynamically attracted to regions, not coded.

I agree. The province life ratings should be more dynamic also, and influenceable to a certain extent by the factors you list (as well as also taking account of the more static factors like the province's climate, topography, availability of open land to settle etc).

Something for Vicky 2, I suppose.

Well, I think that's the best bet as of now. Good as Paradox has been about updating and overhauling their games, Vicky has been out too long for such a radical makeover. It sounds like a simple idea but from what little I know of programming, such a system is going to take a lot of time and would be eat up a lot of system resources. Perhaps they could make the immigration mod open to a public beta much like CK is under now.

Hows tis for a great example of the complete need for a moddable immigration.

The US had taken Yebuti. (small area near the bottom of the suez) So I took it off them. The province (in the space of 1 year) had ammased 40! odd pops. Brits, french, russian, Irish, greek, italian, you name it, they were there. Ironically enough, no yankees though.

But the point is-in 1 year!

So, I thought it might just have something to do with the province, so in my next game I took it from the start. Not one new Pop in 50 years! The USA gets 35-40 in one year!?!?!

Please for the love of God, why isnt paradox doing something about this?!?! What is there now, like, six pages of people asking for it....anyone....hello...
