In EU2 it was called secedeprovince, it was in Vicky too. An event command to transfer ownership of a province from the country that got the event to holder of target title. Would find use in giving undesired (pagans anyone?) land to knightly orders and Rome to Pope. Perhaps somewhere else as well.

Great idea. but maybe too late as it needs Johan's special touch and the guy is busy getting our next year's fix ready.
It would also be nice to be able to cede provinces to a local freindly in exchange for prestiege. This might be great when french dukes aid spainish christians.
ok maybe this is the role player in me but why is it every succesful game I play, no matter where I start, I end up with 2 3rds of spain under my belt? (I swear it happens by accident - they dow me and maybe one war I lose as I am not ready, but the next, well, they are history.
It would be nicer to give those provs to local spanish kings, walk away with the pretige and dow your neighbour with it.

I agree wholeheartedly, my thoughts exactly. However, it should probably be done through events, otherwise the AI will just ignore the option eternally.

I would love an event effect like this as well. If Johan can see his way to adding it, that would be great.

While your uses would be very handy, I have other, more evil, uses for such an effect. Imagine what you could do with Mongol events or a Latin Empire series of events...

While i like this, i think there are more important effects that could be done, such as correcting the has_claim condition and province effects being able to trigger other events, both character and province events as well as character events being able to trigger province events. The latter two would really help make some stuff much more dynamic and add a lot to stuff without having to write tons of event effects.

So while i think this is a good idea, i'd say it'd be a back-burner issue.

Well, if Johan gets around to adding bunch of new conditions and effects on same go, having him informed what is wanted is good, I guess?

I think such effect is definitely needed and quite important for the reasons quoted (especially a virtual inability of giving Rome back to the Pope if the Papacy still exists). So I wouldn't say it should be put on the back burner - quite the contrary.

However, Johan has been great so far when it came to adding new effects, so I am keeping my hopes high. :)

Character events can now trigger province events, as far as I remember.

From the event_effects text:
type = trigger for = [target char] value = [event id]
I haven't seen anything triggering province effects, but i haven't tried either.

However province events cannot do the same.

Well their are more needed effects, like the province events being able to trigger other events, fixing the broken ones we do have, and their has been much complaint from the "i want to be..." events for not being able to appoint them directly which gets far more flack than not being able to give rome back to papal states if it exists.
Personally i think adding the ability to target various daughters (in addition to sons) or any child could be more useful.
So while i say its nessary, its not a top priority.
