This is my current thinking. Thoughts anyone?
Play will start at 11am UK time, 12am European time. It is deliberately
later to allow some NA players to be involved should they wish to get up
early/ or just join later in the day as space permits. Play will continue
to late and continue again on Sunday.
Please wait in the Tsunami channel and make sure that you use your EU forum
name. If we have the required number of players then we will start. It will
use the latest beta.
Rather than wait till the end of September I have decided to run a number
of weekends over the summer, all sessions will be announced in advance.
Thus it will be a continuous campaign.
After much deliberation I have decided to start with the 1419 scenario. We
have nothing to lose apart from our 1419 cherries.
The original rule of play long term will be the basis of the game. I will
play small random powers so I can guide the game as fairly as possible
without being too involved. There will be 2 rules before we introduce the
Eastern powers.
1) No nation may hold more than 1 province whose culture that is not
included in the starting player countries.
There may be loopholes to this rule, it is expected that players attempt
to play in the spirit of the rule. It will only last a session or two so
there ought to be no major problems.
2) You may not discover America prior to 1492
The initial set up will be.
1419 start
1) England,
2) Castile,
3) Italian minor 2
4) Ottoman Empire
5) Venice,
6) Hungary
7) Mamelukes
8) Portugal
9) Italian minor 1
10) France,
11) Scotland,
12) Burgundy,
13) Aragon
14) Anatolian minor
15) French minor 3
16) French minor 2
17) French minor 1
18) Anatolian minor 2
Then around 1470-1492 those countries that have "replaced" the "mother"
country may opt to become that country, but taking their stats with them,
thereby inheriting their leaders and events.
Then we will remove the 8 weakest countries by regional grouping. The
exception being Burgundy who can become Austria and that the strongest
"French nation" will stay on.
This will mean that "alternative history" can develop whilst keeping the
game within EU event engine boundaries to avoid bumping into its
limitations. We will then add (with on 0% inflation)
Poland,
Denmark,
Sweden
Muscowy/Novgorod,
Lithuania
Eastern minor 1
Eastern minor 2
Austria.
Then there will be no rules apart form play long term.
