Its our choice to be disappointed if we want to! Ironman would probably stay lucky anyway so why not let players choose for themselves?
Random lucky nations should be a meaningful third option. Currently people are upset that it's too much like regular lucky nations, and I believe Wiz is stating that making it truly random will make it more like no lucky nations. What's needed is some middle ground that provides enough difference from both to provide an interesting alternative.

This is a paradox title, the answer should be obvious:
Why not allow modding of the weights? if you want no weight, just put 0.

Sure thing, I'll add a couple defines.

Sure thing, I'll add a couple defines.

...and a happy compromise is reached.

I'd like a ui to set lucky nations, because it would be fun to do things like making all Asian or Native American lucky nations.

The problem with this is that it'd generally result in a bunch of lucky minors and would be indistinguishable from just having lucky nations off. Lucky isn't that large a bonus that it will turn AI Tirhut into the second coming of the Maurya Empire.

Maybe, maybe not. I've had the mauled remains of Austria (as the result of my CK2 game) rise up from its ashes and become a player in a converter game. It took a long time, but I'm pretty confident their lucky status contributed a lot. There was also a resilient Brunswick that I kept reducing to nothing and it would keep standing back up and growing again. Both Austria and Brunswick were lucky nations, I checked the savegame later - I was checking specifically to look at Brunswick who would simply not go away.

Sure thing, I'll add a couple defines.

So it will be possible to go pure random? Awesome. I'd rather a chance to try and be disappointed than forever wondering if what I thought I saw was a mirage.

I think the big problem with native America not becoming relevant is that they don't take exploration first and therefore don't colonize all that 'free' land around them. A native american lucky should basically beeline admin 4 like most humans would to try get exploration online asap, as well as proceeding to try to reform/westernize in an attempt to become relevant.

I would think non-European luckies would have a bigger bias and maybe bonuses on westernization. Yes, I know some people moan about non Western nations westernizing but this is RANDOM luckies, the purpose of which is to make a world that is diverse rather than the same four-six blobs every game, everywhere.

I want a "hot potato" random mode. Where the lucky nations are recalculated every 25 years or something!
This would be cool. Maybe with the luck bonuses being tied to the ruler instead of the nation, and when that ruler dies have the lucky status thrown back into the ring for anyone to get.

+1 for this.
And yeah, gotta agree with people in here, this game seems to be leaning more on the side of a historical railroad simulator than a sandbox game. (And is more of that every patch) Makes me miss EU3, where anything could happen. I guess EU2 fans like this game more, though.

An option to play Ironman without lucky nations is topping my wish list. Lucky nations having a +25% chance to get an heir is just silly and makes me play normal SP without lucky nations instead of iron man. Please consider this extra option for iron man, just like there is for normal SP.
