Maybe it's Paradox' fault for making people angry with this new DLC. Nobody would've been angry if they hadn't announced this dumb DLC.

+1.

You shouldn't be surprised when the fire that you started burns you.

Paradox are entitled to do what they want just as the community is entitled to not like it as much as they want.

Maybe it is Paradoxes fault, but it's their fault they couldn't realize that a large portion of their fanbase hate jokes and hate irony.. Or that they're super mad about one single piece of optional DLC when they've already said that Pagan DLC is coming.

but whatever you're clearly not interested in actually have a discussion about this so continue raging about it I guess?

Exactly! I don't mean to seem ungrateful, but it's the revenue from past projects and DLCs that are driving the development of this one.
People paid good money for Sword of Islam and Legacy of Rome, and expect the development of something equally good (!!!or better!!!), not a COMPLETELY ahistorical fantasy DLC that should be the realm of modders. The POD (Point of Departure) of all CK2 timelines is September 15, 1066, exactly when the game starts. With the Aztec DLC, the POD is far before 1066; they would have had to develop so much technology and society in order to reach Europe-conquering levels by the 1200s, definitely more than 200 years.
This DLC would be akin to putting out a DLC of "Roman Empire survived. Play as a landholder in Rome, try to scheme and backstab your way to Emperorship; or play as a landed German or Hun or Avar or etc. etc. etc. to bring down the mighty Empire."
It's ridiculous, it's literally modder territory.

I understand that people paid for the past DLC and Johan can run to the Bahamas with it for all it's tied to us now, but it would be nice for future DLCs to actually reflect the community's wishes.

the irony being that Paradox is often accused of being Eurocentric, even racist on some occasions (maybe not here but it's not an unheard of view point on other forums).

You're suggesting Paradox... A respectable game developer with an armada of successful games sat down in a boardroom and the coversation went something like this:

Developer: "You know what we should do? Make a DLC where the Aztecs invade Europe!"
Boss: "Why on earth would we do that? Does the community even want that?
Developer: "Well... Not exactly... But it would be IRONIC!"
Boss: "I see! Very well old boy! Please spend tens of thousands of dollars in company wages to create IRONY!"

Right...

EDIT: Sorry that came off ruder than intended Cityinthesea. I was just making a point. It's not personal.

Right...

tens of thousands of dollars? Are you talking Zimbabwean dollars or what, I don't think even Swords of Islam cost that much and this was clearly much less work than that. I doubt this cost more than a thousand honestly.

Also I love this so please stop with this fallacy that no one in the community likes this.

I think it's pretty clear that a significant part of the community doesn't like it. I would probably go as far to say most of the community.

Also do you know how many people it takes to create content for these games? Lots... Each person is making at least $50,000 a year in wages so if say 12 people worked on this a month (at least one artist, at least a couple of programmers, some support staff, a marketing guy, a guy to lead the team, etc) then it costs: $50,000. I would say that's a seriously conservative estimate right there.

well, then, the sales will show that so why are you raging so hard? Like fine I don't care if you don't like it, vote with your wallet an all that, but whining about it on the forums just makes you seem really petty.

edit; also you know the CK2 team is, at most (including the top level guys who work on all of the Pdox games), 7 people right.

Suggesting that 'Paradox made this to be ironic' is a bad rationale is hardly 'raging'.

they didn't just do it to be ironic of course, there are many reasons they did this (for funzies is probably the main reason) but you can see the irony there.

Also seriously if you think this took them a month then either you think this DLC has way more going on or Paradox are really bad at their jobs. If this took them more than a week of serious, hard, work, than I'd still call them bad at their jobs (disregarding the portrait artist but I doubt they have much to do for the next DLC anyway). This is the Golden Horde with new events and portraits. This is not something that takes a month to make

Also also they are releasing 1.08 with this so you know, it's not like there's nothing in this release for people that hate fun.

It's not like there's nothing in this release for people that hate fun.

It's ironic to claim that the other party in an argument is 'raging' and then make statements that discredit their preferences regarding the direction of a game.

Now that's irony right there. I believe if you look through all my above posts the one thing I did not do is attack the people who like the Aztec expansion pack as "children with no appreciation of history" or "Farmville players" or anything like that.

Some people find historical plausibility fun. Also it's hard to pick up jokes through the internet seeing as text has no tone :p.

Still some people, like me, find historical plausibility fun and also find historical... implausibility (is that the word I don't know) fun, such as the Aztecs colonizing the old world instead of the other way around. It would also make a pretty interesting AAR.

And your point is...?
So Paradox can develop an obviously unpopular DLC (not that they don't have every right too), and customers don't have any right to at least present grievances and say "Hey, why aren't you working on THIS instead?"
Seriously, get over yourself.

My point is: keep it in ONE damn tread. I don't give a BLEEP if you love, hate or are neutral on this Aztec DLC. No need to spam the forum with redundant treads whose point is not even to discuss the topic.
Thats simply forum etiquette around the net.

You basically write, "Oh, people don't like the new optional DLC, they should deal with it."
Well, I have a retort for you, "Oh, you don't like threads parodying the new optional DLC, DEAL WITH IT."

*looks at haters spamming treads, hijacking every tread they can, whine rather than actually criticize and don't even bother to check what Dev's said on the topic*
You are saying "Deal with it!" to the wrong people here bro.

People paid good money for Sword of Islam and Legacy of Rome, and expect the development of something equally good (!!!or better!!!), not a COMPLETELY ahistorical fantasy DLC that should be the realm of modders.

And that thing IS in the development as scheduled and under budget as originally planned.
SI is a minor DLC, meaning that no serious amount of money even went into this.

Jokes are funny and this definitely isn't irony...

Funny depends on which side you stand.
As annoying as spamming treads are, I and many other had very good laughs at comical reactions here.

I think it's pretty clear that a significant part of the community doesn't like it. I would probably go as far to say most of the community.

Sales will show that, not few vocal posters.
If I had a penny for every time vocalists were proven wrong, I'd be rich like EA.

Oh, you are following PI's financial reports or something? And number of people working on a big PIO game is usually small, yet alone a minor DLC.

Either way, it has been already said from Dev's themselves (who, I assure you, know their own organization and resource spending better than you can) this is a minor project that didn't even waste meaningful amount of resources. And since they can't just start another big project, not making something in mean-time would be unprofitable and a waste (and don' say they should have done something else: everything else deserves better developer treatment than some fantasy invasion).

This is a minor DLC not worth much fire, either positive or negative. And damn it people, one DLC won't bring end of the world...
...wait, it was Aztecs that prophecised the end of the world in 2012, no? Is this what they were talking about? Is this where the end starts?
Aztecs ain't invading CK", they are invaing the world by causing the WW3 :-O

THE END IS NIGH!
