Petition For Adult HOI3 Forum

Even Elitism amongst elitists.

Elitism is underrated, in my opinion.

Seriously, though, I see no reason for some kind of special Adults Only forum. Being boring and having nothing interesting to add (i.e. I'm going to inform the whole community of the exact hour at which I will be able to play the game - apologies to those who have done so, nothing personal) does not equate to maturity. Some people just love sharing meaningless minutiae.

There is a very simple way to solve his problem:

Provide intelligent and cultivated discussions yourself, post well researched articles, gently reproach excesses ...

Lead by example, the kids will blow your socks off once they get serious about researching history and game mechanics. They have got fresher brains and more time than any adult....

You haven't seen a really bad forum yet. This forum has 5 mods because it needs them, but on the other hand the forum is actually more or less under control. Adbots get banned, disruptive posters tend to find their way out the door sooner or later, spam gets cleaned (and much of it is a quick way to get threads locked).

I think many of the answer you have received to your post shows you have some valid concern.
This forum is filled of these short post with a non respectful approach and lack of positive reflective attitude.
It is not a rewarding experience to research, and post in dept stuff if you get gang-banged of this "I want to add another post to my forum stat".
People don't try to understand your message they just wont to pick it apart, and misunderstand which is eysere and get you more post quickly (So sooner to celebrate that 1000 post marks).

The underlying message I see in your post is the concern of how we can mantain and improve the quality of this forum.
This is a most valid concern. You have proposed one solution, does anybody else have any suggestion for how to improve the quality of the posts in this forum?
But I do think this tread in itself proves your solution wrong, most likely the majority of post in this tread is over 18.

I agree. The fact is that the real morons wont tend to get with HOI simply because their fragile minds cant handle the occassion.
Therefore anyone who harbours an interest in this immense wargame should be encouraged, and not lamblasted for being just ever so slightly immature...

That is part of why we are attacking him. His desire may be reasonable (or not), but his solution is lacking. Not even getting into how poor 18 is as a benchmark, he's already left out anyone who purchases by any means but GG. It's hardly a researched, well thought out suggestion. For a little while I thought he was trolling, but then realized he'd be more calculatedly elitist if he meant to stir the hornet's nest.

Not every thread must be serious, there is a place for deep discussions of army level logistics and the submarine/ASW balance (where we start citing sources and hunting through our libraries for some scantly remembered quote), but there is also a place for joking around about the foibles of posters and Paradox. There's no need to separate them into different forums, and definitely no need to declare one forum serious.

Via Gamers Gate details; no one under 18 can own credit cards so, a requirement for registration would be to provide Gamers Gate ID to join.

Question: Should this GamersGate account have HoI3 purchased, or will any account work? If only purchased account works, then it leaves all other purchasers out of the forum. If only account is enough, then anyone can register, as GamersGate doesn't ask your credit card info when registering.
