So just to prove its not a personal performance issue, i installed the game on my brothers gaming PC (on which he runs fresh games on medium to high settings without problems). On default galaxy settings, after each galactic day it freezes for a split-second. We tried it without AI empires, it still dropped fps.
Which means, we can drop the whole "your rig su*ks" argument.

The your rig sucks argument wasn't an argument to begin with, recommended system specs are:

RECOMMENDED:

  • OS: Windows® 10 Home 64 Bit
  • Processor: Intel® iCore™ i5-3570K or AMD® Ryzen™ 5 2400G
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia® GeForce™ GTX 560 Ti (1GB VRAM)
  • DirectX: Version 9.0c
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 10 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c-compatible sound card
  • Additional Notes: Controller support: 3-button mouse, keyboard and speakers. Special multiplayer requirements: Internet Connection or LAN for multiplayer.
Stuttering at anything higher than those specs is totally unacceptable.

I had that too but the new beta patch got that cobered. So maybe instead of screaming for a patch you all should actually try the neweat patch.

Btw late game lag is very bad and annoys me as well but sadly thats a problem in most strategy games. Civ never got me any better results....but i agree that the teams main focus atm should be performance and late game lag. But i am full of hope they know that and act accordingly

What do you mean? Isn't late game lag a symptom of the daily tick freezes?
well no, there was a kind of bug that resulted in day to day lags from day one.

The regular daily freezes hasnt been solved by the patch. Most of the people say that late game is much better though.
it is definitly fixed for me, i have played 100 yrs and overall performance is like 2.1 for me and daly tick bug isnt a problem anymore

The daily tick lag starting after 2400 was fixed for me when I switched to the 2.2.2 beta branch. Probably around a 50x to 100x improvement in the length of the daily tics. There's still occasional lag during large fleet battles or when scrolling the map, but it's completely manageable as opposed to the 3 second daily tick freezes that essentially broke the late-game for me. Up until the early 2400s (around when lots of gateways started opening up) the game ran very smoothly, so I suspect the people who complain about lag from day one are encountering different and likely system-specific problems.

I have it, but it happens even when it's going by very fast.

keep the game unpaused and scroll around, and the game will just kinda freeze or skip every day pass, this isn't much of an issue since i pause a lot though,

The state of my current game:

- beta branch
- 1000 star galaxy
- no wormholes or gateways
- L-gate is opened
- year 2462 and the prethoryn arrived
- game has the "normal" endgame lag (small stutters every day and a general slower passing of time)

It is nothing like my last game on the live branch with wormholes and gateways. Performance is way better. (But not "good" in comparision with early and mid game)

Late game when no wars are going on is fine, but the second the war in heaven kicked off every day started taking 3-4 seconds, and that's WITH the beta 2.2.2 patch and a rig that's a month old and is designed for gaming and VR.
I7-7800

Nidia gtx1070Ti graphics card

From reading the forums I guess most of the problem is caused by gateways, but I have yet to see anything from PDX about how long they think it's going to take to resolve the problem. I guess we're just supposed to gimp ourselves by not building gateways until they get it figured out. Until then I guess I should just get used to watching my fleets stutter across systems and 5 second delays every time I try to change the part of the map I'm viewing.

My i5 8300H and gtx 1050 4gb are idling, almost. Except for that one thread on the CPU locked at 100%.

Overal CPU at ~20%, one thread (of 8) at 100%.
Gpu starts at ~70% day 1 and slowly goes doem to ~40% to 30% at 2350 to almost idle after 2400, because there are no frames to render since CPU have to wait for that one thread.

I tried using a core un-parker and to negligible performance improvements for the 2400+ stage of the game. (Currently 2490's)
A day is about 3 seconds for me at this point. It's pretty unplayable :T

using i5-8600K CPU with 1050 TI

Having the same issues with performance slowing down late game. Galaxy is a medium 600 star galaxy with less then 12 empires, 2 marauder and 1 fallen empires in it. L-Gates and wormholes are on and present in game and the hyperlane density is normal. Im currently in year 2546 and if i want to move the map or do anything i have to pause the game issue my commands then unpause it and allow them to be executed. Otherwise my game lags to 5fps at best or freezes up for 10-15 secs. I started noticing the slowdown around year 2300 prior to that i saw no slowdown running the game on the fastest setting.

Now i want to note that i really started to notice the slowdown when i first built my sentry array sometime in 2300. I wish i had thought to reload an autosave prior to building the sentry array to see if the first stage of the array being completed was the start of my slowdown. Sadly i didnt think to do that and kept playing the game well past that point. Id love to see this issue be fixed as sadly its made it so i cant even finish my current game because its taking so long for anything to happen.

System Specs:
i7 7700k
Nvidia 1070 8g
16g DDR4
game saved on 128g SSD

I haven't gotten a day 1 stutter. I did get the gateway stutter and I have had general late game slowdown before (as in prior to Le Guin), the gateway thing made the game my definition of unplayable but general slowdown is not that bad. I haven't gotten around to seeing how it plays on the latest beta though since other bugs got me to stop playing.

There is a mod on the workshop that claims to improve performance by effectively removing trade collection range and protection values from star bases(and making it inherent in every outpost) and I've noticed a huge drop in lag after installing. Of course this in large part butchers the new feature but I think until Paradox implements a fix I will keep running that mod for the sake of performance.

On the topic of wormholes and gateways I'm also using a mod that allows me to to greatly crank up the level of spawns in galaxy creation and that is not killing performance as long as I have this mod enabled.

Can you link the mod or at least the name of it others of us can test it out see if it helps?
