Overtly negative? I paid for this. It was not given to me for free. The developers sold me a product that is not working properly. I don't have to suck up to them to convince them to fix it. If they don't, I will stop supporting them. If they don't care, I will stop supporting them. If they can't, I will stop supporting them. That's all.

Their response so far has been underwhelming. If most people face a situation as bad as the one I do, and I have an i7-8700k, 32GB Ram, 1080GTX, so I bet they are, then I should not have even needed to complain, the patch should have been out yesterday. The game is broken.

I agree, I get that Paradox aren't a huge company and that their games have a somewhat niche following, but that doesn't mean they don't have to service paying customers with a working product. People have been complaining about performance issues for a long time now and it's finally boiled over with Megacorp and 2.2. It doesn't take an army of development staff in a billion dollar studio to understand that if you don't address performance issues and you keep adding features and content, eventually those issues will grow and your game will become unplayable. The time spent churning out some of the DLC could have been spent figuring out why the game runs like ass and finally fixing it, now it's grown to be a huge problem that's going to cost them both sales and goodwill.

The only reason they're getting away with this without mass refunds is because testing a paradox game for performance issues takes far longer than the 2 hours mandated by steam refunds. But looking ahead to the future, how many of us are going to pick up another DLC/update for stellaris without waiting for news on how it performs first? I know I'm no longer a day 1 customer.

EDIT - Having looked into Paradox a little more, calling them a small company with a niche product is an error on my part. They're an 89 million dollar a year company so they don't even have that excuse.

About my previous post: removing 2 gateways instead of the Empires (1 gateway in particular in each) worked...
That seems to confirm other observations here.
Though overall there might be multiples factors causing lag but Gateways are sometimes one of them.

I already disabled normal Gateways but unfortunately L-Gate is in my game. Maybe if I Close my Borders and capture all L Gates or something then the AI does not do pathfinding through them. What happens if you don't go L-Gate does the AI go for it??? Heard its not hugely beneficial anyway in 2.2.

Bruh...
What's the point of lying? I called you out on your BS so devs can focus on fixing the problem instead of letting this slip because of posts like yours.

And I've actually went out of my way to show everyone how much full of s*it you are:
I've created a 5000 star galaxy (10000 star one would crash during creation after around 30 mintues) with the settings you claim to be stutter free:

Normal speed:
https://streamable.com/uinwx
Faster speed:
https://streamable.com/uuv9s

Fastest was basically unplayable.
Specs from Open Hardware Monitor:
https://i.imgur.com/t60KDC8.jpg

So if the game runs like crap at the very start of the game, at half the galaxy size you claim to be playing on a way worse rig, what could that be, hmmmm..
It's a conspiracy against you. We gather in the shadows plotting your overthrow. Clearly that's the most reasonable explanation, not that I'm telling the truth.

I play on a 3 year old laptop. Before 2.2 i had performance lag, i had low fps, but not this crappy "daily" lag. Literally it freezes for a split second after each in-game day.

So please stop arguing about your rigs and stop flexing....it is not a simple CPU or RAM issue.

Try moving your mouse around the galaxy at normal speed. You will notice that the game lags a bit every day. These lags are there from day 1 and get progressively worse. If you still don't notice them, I'd like to know which DLC's you have installed

While I have restarted lots of time, I was finally satisfied to continue into the 2nd century. Game turned into a slide show around 2360.

I'm downgrading to 2.1.3. At least that version was playable well into 3rd century.

I have all of them except Plantoids. Started a new game with 10,000 stars again, 45 fps on max speed in 2270. Still no stuttering.

I don't think you understand that no matter how much "evidence" you provide it doesn't change the fact that I am not experiencing any stuttering or lag.

I stopped opening the L-gate in pre 2.2 and this alone resolved most of my issues. Also started playing on 0x wormholes.

Kind of a pain in the ass I can't use gates either without a massive lag spike.

Yes, apparently gateways are part of the problem ...
Weird thing is I had to remove both to make it work again (one of the two was a disabled gateway), removing just one wasn't enough.

After about 25 in-game years a gateway built by another Empire caused the same problem, game terribly slow/unplayable again. I removed it and everything started working again.
Just one gateway can do a lot of damage :)

I started a game on 600 stars, without any other empire/primitive civ., without gateways, wormholes, etc. on lowest graphic quality. I still couldnt hover over the galaxy without noticing the "daily" micro-lag. I am out of ideas.

Stellaris looks great at first but then you realise you won't be able to play it to the end because of such performance issues.
On a large multiplayer galaxy, 2x players we are also now down to 3 seconds a day and it is indeed unplayable.
That is with 2.1.3 so I'm not sure why they bothered adding complexity and bugs with 2.2 when things were already far from smooth with 2.1.
To me Stellaris is a great example of the sorry state of the video games industry these days.

Looking at the amount of bad reviews it's been getting on Steam it seems I'm not the only one sharing my frustration. I wonder how Steam is still showing it as "Very positive"...

It seems most people are not happy with the extra complexity added in 2.2, not even talking about the bugs.
I'm curious to see how the studio will handle that situation. Will they go back to 2.1 and try to polish what they had or will they insist on pushing 2.2 disregarding the terrible feedback they are getting?

I think saying "most people" aren't happy with it is an overstatement. If we go based on steam reviews it looks like about 33% of the playerbase doesn't like the changes. That's still a huge amount, I mean can you even consider an expansion to be a success if it drives a third of your players away or back to old itterations of the game ensuring they'll never have reason to buy your DLC again?

Can we not switch topic? You can talk about the gameplay changes in another thread. Thank you.

So just to prove its not a personal performance issue, i installed the game on my brothers gaming PC (on which he runs fresh games on medium to high settings without problems). On default galaxy settings, after each galactic day it freezes for a split-second. We tried it without AI empires, it still dropped fps.
Which means, we can drop the whole "your rig su*ks" argument.
