Hello everyone and happy new year!

I played a massive game of Stellaris over the holidays on a huge map and was very pleased to see that the lag of end game performance has improved considerably since the launch of the game.

I played the game up until the 2650s where I won by conquest (on a HUGE map). Previous to 1.4.1 this would not have been an option for me because of end game lag. I used to experience freezes that required a forced restart and upwards of 2 minutes of lag between clock ticks. This is no longer the case and my computer hasn't changed.

I'm not saying it is perfect (but neither is my computer), the fastest speed is somewhere between the normal and fast setting is on a new game. I have 13 fleets over 100k power each and I see a slow down (clock ticks take a second or two to get rolling) when I have them selected or when there is a massive battle but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was pleased to see the victory screen.

I am glad that was your experience, even in single player and with a small Galaxy it seems to be getting more laggy. I'm barely past 2300 and with one 100k fleet when it starts lagging.

Any suggestions? I'm running an intel i7 with 6GHz, 16gb ram with a nvidia quadro adaptor.

Razor cortex can alleviated some of the lag for me. But there's only so much you can do, the engine is only 32bit restricting the maximum ram useage, and the game is only optimised for single thread/core usage.

Also could you state the actual details of your cpu and gpu? Not just the performance specs.

You've said you cpu is 6GHZ but thats with all the cores?, it sounds like it's a hexa core, but I've got the feeling it's indivudal core speed is not terribly good, which is where you're probably falling down due to lack of multi core support in stellaris. Does it have hyperthreading? as this would help a great deal.

As for your quadro I know that gpu range from nvidia is not built for gaming. However stellaris has a reletively low graphical demand (until giant space battles that is). War in heaven will always cause lag, it was a pathetic oversight by the devs in my opinion.

Just turn graphic down, I find low tolerable in this game as I'm never scrutinising anything closely. Turn bloom off (this helps a pot) , huge sectors also contribute significantly, the AI has a max size for their sectors hard coded to reduce lag.

I cannot tell is RossMorris is being facetious or not, a 6Ghz cpu only exists in the machines of overclocking enthusiasts and a Quadro gpu is an extremely expensive professional grade card, and very different standard consumer cards.

If they aren't then the main problem would likely be the Quadro, as it is optimised for CAD and rendering work, not gaming.
