I think I can guess why the people walk so fast. I think all modes of transport are calculated to take the same amount of time for the same distance. This means every Skymmie can calculate their journey based on distance alone, without having to calculate the time penalties of maximum speed. Not sure what happens about waiting time for buses etc? Does that get factored in?

Not likely. Roads have speed limits and it would be broken if they weren't taken into account. It'll be the simcity shortest-route problem. Plus we know that Cims avoid congested areas of the city. Plus walking is not the same speed as driving. It just isn't, look at the videos, especially the one where a city street is viewed top-down, the cars are going faster than the people. Why do people even think walking is as fast as cars in the game? Do you guys actually think cars travel that fast IRL? That's absurd, they're doing hundreds of miles an hour on some roads.

If they moved relative to actual game speed it would be people flying all over the place. SC13 slowed it down to look normal speed even though minutes took seconds. Which meant walking to the corner shop was a 4 hour round trip.

48 hour traffic jams just going to school. No wonder they forgot where they lived.
