Don't see a suggestions area, so I will drop this here. In Victoria 2 a nations currency is valued in GBP, and this is true regardless of if Britain is even around anymore.

So make the currency pegged be the currency of the #1 economic power in the world.

Currencies will really only be cosmetic and it would be weird for the symbol to just flip back and forth as international reserve currencies change. It would be a lot of effort for something that will just be confusing and annoying for a lot of players.

Victoria is not a currency trading game. The pound sterling was essentially the reserve currency of the world for much of the 19th century, so it's the unit of currency in the game.

I'd be okay with it purely as a cosmetic that didn't change any of the numbers because that'd be way too much work. Like if France is #1 then the symbol is a Franc. But I wouldn't do anything more than that and very likely on the list of features it'd probably be lower than a lot of things, many of which will not make the final release.

Idea is pretty cool. Gives you a sense on achievement and accomplishment when your currency tops the pound as global currency.

The only downside I see is people coming to forums, angry, ranting about that pound and franc is automatically converted 1:1, this is ahistorical, Paradox sucks.

As a German, the Latin Monetary Union was not valid for me, but with the Goldmark we also had a beautiful golden disc. Much nicer than the sovereign. Or the coins of the Union.

Money is pegged to gold, the few with silver got wiped out according to history... except lower prices are supposedly good for exports while preventing imports. But what do i know, aside from how to spell badly in rambling incoherent posts.
Now IF a nation does away with gold and makes paper money backed by more freshly printed worthless paper... well.. expect seeing hyperinflation. If you remain true to gold, its supposedly awesome for business. Aside from the great deoression but meanwhile americans were recognized as super rich so yeah. Its complicated.

But the last to remain true to gold should have a boost of sorts, and be a kind of benchmark great power. No bretton-woods yet, but something like that should have a change of coming about in a recreation of the post napoleonic age of metternicht in the new and awesome league of nations. A real endgame supergoal. Aside from setting the zeroth paralell (giza, i choose you!!). Or surviving the post 1870 breakdown countdown towads world war.
Why geneva anyway? Most prestigious? only if war is really terrible for prestige..

I would love for the game to actually simulate multiple currencies (though I don't think that is what the OP was suggesting).

Sadly, I don't think current hardware constraints would allow it Q_Q
