Pedestrian bridges exist in the various maps and can be added in the editor, but do CiMs actually use them? I just set up a series of lines on each side of the river so that the only way to interchange between the two lines was to cross the pedestrian bridge in the Berlin map. I watched the bridge and the lines for half an hour at high speed and no one ever stepped onto the bridge. No one moved between the two sides of the river. No one used the sidewalks that cross other bridges. Are the people unable to cross the bridges for some reason?

Pedestrian bridges remove all conflicts with traffic on the road below. They would seem to be the perfect solution for getting pedestrians across the street. Yes there are people unable to cross the pedestrian bridge.
Maybe because people are tired of going up to the bridge, so they cross the street rather than using the pedestrian bridges.
Its mostly related to the added distance for walking over a footbridge. If you build one directly to a crossing or a crosswalk, people will not use the bridge because the path would be longer. Shortest path principle and nothing we can do about that sadly.
