Peculiar Alliances....

Howdy!

Just a quick question,

(its 1495)

Should Serbia and "Kara Del" be allied?
Sweden and Ming?
Uzbek and Telmcen?
Nogai ------ and Magdeburg/Silesia?

These are just a few of the strangest we've come across in this multiplayer game.

Are they just thinking at an advanced level of strategy that I can't comprehend?

Or is something not quite working properly?

Those all seem pretty weird, but might make sense if there is a giant Russia or Ottomans inbetween.

Well, its not even 1500, Russia is doing O.K (as in not being destroyed by everyone around them)

The Ottomans are a bit of a sad disappointment right now, actually.

I'm also rather perturbed that I already see Ming. Ming is doing well, I'm assuming thats a result of Swedish military support in the region (1495 AD)

If you have a save game with multiple weird alliances (such as the OP), please upload it. This is an issue I would like to look it as it's been frequent ever since it was decided by someone here to make alliances between different religions more likely. Unfortunately, it seems like that was keeping some otherwise rather odd alliance choices in check.

Have you used the yesman cheat? That can make the AI a bit bonkers...

Oh, this gives me a bit of hope that this change wasn't ment to be quite as absurd as the current state.

Unfortunately I do not know how to upload files, I tried to upload a file button, but apparently the save is to big for the server to handle.

Am I supposed to use a file uploading site? If so, which one would be suggested?

Have you used the yesman cheat? That can make the AI a bit bonkers...

Interesting you mentioned that, I did take the game out of multiplayer for a moment to perform some...corrective measures for a friend, and did use the yesman cheat (such a harsh word) for a moment. It was only once, but it was on for an (ingame) month...I don't remember if there were crazy alliances before I did this (this was VERY early, like first 10 years)....

So maybe that's what's done it? odd, since it was only once and only for a month (I had to wait to make peace)

I never let yesman run for more then a day, since lots of weird AI shenaningans occur almost instantly. Strange alliances, vassals made marches etc etc.
So in 1 month you can expect quite some strangeness!

My current game (as Flanders) has Muscovy and Ottomans, easily the two biggest powers in Eastern Europe who should as a result probably be rivals, as allies. Let's just say I'm glad I'm playing Flanders and not Lithuania. It's not quite as bizarre as the OP's situation, but I'll have a look around the save.

Might I just add that we just hit 1515 and I can see all of India and Indonesia as France....I don't remember it being so soon, but maybe I'm just forgetting something?

I don't know specifically what alliances are in that one, but I know there are definitely a few head scratchers...
