Here is my suggestion for a good sandbox peacedeal as proposed on another thread :

PEACEDEAL

- You can only offer a peacedeal to a country when you occupy their Capital
- IA ALWAYS accept peacedeal offer if their capital is occupied and at least 75% of their armed forces destroyed
- Region with rightfull claim (you own core) cost half the price
- 100% occupation and 100% destruction of armed forces equal a 100% wascore allowing full annexation
- Leader in the war can ask region for their allies if they occupy the main city of this region or have core in it
- IA WILL ALWAYS do that when war leader
- Asking the target to become a puppet cost 40%, thus allowing the player or IA to ask for other region in the peacedeal
- Democratic power can't annex, only ask for releasing country

What do you think about this ? Can we release the lollard heretics in sweden to enforce our demand for a real peacedeal mechanic ?

I hope we get a similiar casus belli limited peace deal system as all other paradox titles. this crazy "you must occupy 100% of a country before you can peace but only if it is full annexation" is totally ridiculous.

That's the way it worked in every other PDS game except HoI3. Either way, though, the peace deal system isn't really too important. There will be very few important peace deals in the game, and 3/4s of those have, can, or should be covered by events. I'd be fine with HoI3's peace deal system. Well, as long as the government form and head of state is switched around with the puppet war goal.

Actually, HoI3 has pretty much the same peace system as Crusader Kings 2. You choose your wargoal before the war and fight until completely beaten.

Hmmm, a pacedeal mechanic would be cool in multiplayer. A lot of players get kicked out of a match because no one can offer peace. In the process, most of the losing players army gets destroyed. But bulding up a new army, in ultra slow speed, is boring as hell. Thats why most people quiet, after their nation is forced to surrender.

New versions of a game are always built upon the last expansion of the last one.

I hope so because if HoI4 is just basically HoI3 with pretty graphics it probably won't be worth getting, at least at release.

But what if you only occupy the capital city while the rest of the fight lives on in the other provinces? Shouldnt it be "You can only offer a peace deal to a country if you occupy 60% of it's industry" or something like that?

that would work but I think achieving the war goal and then having a CK2 style ticking warscore is better.

You don't fight until you're completely defeated in either game. France didn't in HoI3, and in CK2 if you declare war on a large empire, you could win a war by occupying 4 or 5 provinces out of 100.

So if Japan wants Eastern Siberia from the Soviet Union, they have to occupy Moscow first? To even suggest a peacedeal?

If they occupy Eastern Siberia and German wargoal is high enough and Moscow occupied by one or another, they will have it.

If they are alone at war with SU, well, they have to occupy Moscow.

Why have warscore in a game that is about total, unconditional war ?

Either the opponent is defeated or it's not, there's no middle ground. WW2 is not the kind of war you can opt out by making a few concession to the winning side and get on with your life.
