Really enjoyed the previous games called EU4, but I'm not such a fan of 1.33. While I'm far from a great EU4 player, I have done no-exploit world conquests and a host of achievements (mostly by accident, not an achievement hunter).
- The combat system seem to be 100% about doom stacks and numbers and really de-emphasizing any army quality. I'm losing way too many battles that several years of instincts tell me should be wins. Every player develops a sense of what are "wins" what are losses and what are going to require sacrifices to RNGesus. It is unbelievably frustrating to have that suddenly upended.
- The AI is too aggressive. The 3rd rate power should not be constantly attacking the first rate power every time the truce is up and my back is turned -- they don't win, but they waste my time. YOLO is just a song, right.
- The AI sub-verts vassals nearly instantly. If a vassal ever reaches 50% disloyalty, they skyrocket up to 100% because every one of my rivals supports their independence, The fact that they do is not an issue, the problem is that they do so before I can react -- often before I can even notice and react to the disloyal vassal indication. I'm not leaving my vassals at 51% disloyalty for months. (Yes, I have strong duchies, yes I have influence, yes I'm up-to-date on diplo tech). If your proposed solution is to play on speed 2 or something, just stop.
- The AI develops provinces like crazy now, so much so that I have to wonder if they are obeying the same rules for mana that I do. This makes CCR and the ability to raze even more important, not less. This seems contrary to good game design.
