As a relatively new player of the hoi4 one thing I don't understand is why the peace conference mechanics are so detailed. I think they are an interesting part of the game but what I don't understand is why they are even there. Of all the Paradox games this one seems like it is the least appropriate (mechanically) for peace conferences. I often find that by the time victory is achieved and it's time to head to the conference table it's already the mid to late forties. At that point I find that I don't really care how Europe gets divided as it seems really unlikely that there will be another war to be fought, or even much of anything left to do. With out much of a timeline after WW2 the consequences of a peace conference seem completely moot. I imagine that such a peace mechanic would be much more at home in something like Victoria or Europa, where victorious power would want to advantage themselves for decades or even centuries to come. So can some enlighten me as to why is the peace conference in this game?
