France, intervening in the American Civil War. Edited in an alliance once I got the CSA to +150. Spent a lot of money and bodies preserving the Southland. The white peace event fires and the war is over.

FRANCE MUST BE COMPENSATED! I am trying to justify all of my actions in the game so the question is What would I logically be asking of from CSA and USA? Bearing in mind I occupied the North, especially New England, while the rest of the war France played a supporting role.

What do you think would happen if this really happened?

What do you think would happen if this really happened?

War reparations from USA, perhaps military access also and free hand in s america and vs UK in the north.

From CSA I'd ask for New Orleans as a freeport so either annex New Orleans and remove core of USA and CSA or simply military access. Hard to imagine what France would have gained directly from such a situation, more aimed at UK than much to do with Americas probably.

On a side note since you brought it up, what is the fantasic, outstanding value of 'military access'?

"Hey, the war is over. And guess what, I can put some troops in your land, and walk around it. I can even use your ports."

"OK. Big deal. Now I know exactly where to be ready when the treaty expires, jerk. Plus I'm just going to revoke it all in good time. Have fun riding the railroads. Whee! How special for you."

I mean, if you had to FEED his troops, that would be another matter. But otherwise, what's the big deal?
"Perhaps even... <GASP!> military access!!" Oh, no! Anything but that!

Don't hit me with the military access, man. I just can't COPE with that kind of punishment!

You can use his land to hit your enemies.

You can retreat to his land and escape where your enemies can not follow.

^ Yes of course, but seldom advantageously applicable. For example, I play as the UK, and get it from China... "Alright! I can raid Siberia now!" Anyway, I just never understand why people talk about it like it's the 'guillotine of doom' or something. Plus it can be revoked anyway. Suppose France gets it from Prussia, then uses it against Russia. Well, well, it's all good and fine until Russia offers Prussia a full alliance. o Fighting an enemy, on an enemy's soil? Smart? Or can that happen? I'm confused... I'm just gonna go play some more.

Why did you not make a peace offer before the white peace event? Most likely, you should edit the war to continue between just you and the USA, perhaps recovertng the territories you had occupied as well.
