A Stellaris I could play on my tablet would actually be pretty sweet. If it's a good game with a good UI and its not taking PDS development resources away from PC GSGs then I'm all for it.

I hate laptops and I can't take my desktop PC wherever I go. A good quality strategy game I can play on a tablet would be something I'd quite appreciate. Mobile gaming has gone from being an amusing diversion to utter shit since everything went freemium. Games like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Space Miner and a few others were actually pretty enjoyable and good value for the price of $1 (or maybe $4.50 or so for Space Miner). Freemium wrecked it all but there is potential for fun gaming in the mobile/tablet space.

Mobile versions of existing well loved franchises should be announced after big popular reveals, not before them. Whether true or not talking about a mobile game before (or worse yet, in lieu) of a main sequence game update/launch sends a message that enrages fans.

Bethesda have screwed up a lot lately, but one thing they got absolutely right was fallout shelter. Big reveal, Fallout 4 *big applause* "oh and also this other thing called fallout shelter". Everybody happy.

Blizzard on the other hand. "You people don't have phones", twenty five years of good will evacuated like a burst airlock.

I think a Stellaris mobile game could be a lot of fun actually. I just don't get Paradox's release strategy at all here?

While I hope these teasers are both for a new platform and update, judging by statements like these it seems to be separate from the version we know.
edQizbQ.png

Besides, 2.5 for PC and a new platform was unlikely in the first place, since the other consoles were released (and are still) behind.

As for the actual content: Left image in the triple one appears to be some kind of space building. Galactic UN seems unlikely since isn't that kinda what the interstellar assembly is supposed to be? It definitely seems un-Stellaris-like since it looks like ships are supposed to enter and exit it, which I don't believe we've seen yet. I would've said the legs were for a trailer if there wasn't that later teaser with more species - in the same position.

Ethics influenced by decisions on events would be very cool. Taxes too ... but realistically they would likely be very simple.

Very interesting. It seems that decisions you make will shift your ethics in either direction, rather than it being a straight-up binary case of "Spiritualist/Materialist or not".

So what if they are making a stellaris mobile game?
I personally am glad for them, as as far as I know they will not stop developing for the pc version, to me this has as much impact on my view of paradox and stellaris as the console version.

This teased ethics screen looks a LOT like the political interface in Endless Space 2.

However, the bonus names seem to hint at something that's not the main Stellaris game. "Population maintenance cost" and "Tax revenue" aren't current Stellaris modifiers (though "population maintenance cost" could be "job upkeep"), so if this is hinting at an addition for Stellaris this would be pretty massive - just adding a tax system would be a huge change.

The other teaser with an anomaly screen also hints at decisions adding some kind of "ethic score" (+5 pacifism for the decision to leave the anomaly alone, +5 materialism for the decision to send an AI down there) that also diverges a lot from PC and Console Stellaris.

With this and the teased map, definitely a mobile thing, probably focused on exploration and ethical dilemmas.

I personally have no problem with mobile games. A company is expected to try to find ways to expand their market. The poi is the word expand. It's when mobile games ovetake or replace beloved franchises and such that customer rage ensures. I feel that PDX got better sense for how the consumers work than that. I expect goodies that will please most of us.

I'm gonna make a few predictions for Stellaris:
1. a mobile version.
2. the next major expansion with diplomacy and internal politics.
3. redoing ethics will probably be part of the internal and external politics.
4. stuff done to the end game crisis. They've been left in a bad state for too long without something in the works.
5. Same with the Fallen Empires.
