I was actually expecting Vicky 3 or Rome 2... and we got nothing. I feel somewhat disappointed but then again, they never promised anything so I guess my hype and hopes had no foundation.

They promised a convention on PDX. PDS built PDX, hoping for an announcement is logic.

On the other hand, they have a couple of projects under the belt... well at least one. Believe me, we tried about all the tricks in our bags to have them make a slip of the tongue, but they were really great at evading, the slippery buggers.

Do also note they've learnt from the HoI4 announcement blunder... the game being announced in 2014 but only released in 2016. So, if they are working on it, they may feel it needs more work, and therefore can't be announced quite yet.

Wasn't a key problem with HoI4's release that they had to push it back a few times? If they had announced something this past weekend, and simply not told us a release date - hell, they could reference HoI4 directly - I think we'd understand.

In a way, yes. On the other hand, if they were to announce Vicky3 now, and only release in two years, it can be seen by many as a HoI4-like release blunder.

But it could also be they are working on Rome II or some other game first.

The reason was probably more the whole Runemaster thing where they had to slash that project, HoI4 was at least released. They didn't dare to slash that one, the forum would be in full riot mode if they would have even tried to do it.

What if they now put the same rule for every game, developed and published : no announcement before the game reaches alpha stage. Make sense on a business point, and ensures not getting people's hope too high up.
