A new player took charge of Shan, but was immediately attacked from all sides.

Now now. Shan was actually the one who attacked me. So I'm innocent of bashing the new guy.

Though, I did take one province in order to show him who the boss in east Asia is. While also taking a bunch of provinces from AI controlled Ayutthaya in the process (since they was in a coalition against me).

Since there are so many human players, there wouldn't be any strong AI nations in the game from the get-go, and AE/coalitions that doesn't include human players doesn't matter at all.

The strongest AI country is probably one of Portugal's colonial nations at this point.

the strongest independent AI country... Ayutthaya, maybe, unless one of the New World tribes managed to reform without getting mauled.

Essentially all powerful nations nations have been under player control right from the start, so it's not very surprising that the remaining AI nations are minor powers at best.

There was a funny incident in the previous game, however, when Witch-King was away for a session and the Dutch AI single-handedly beat back an Austrian/Venetian/Ottoman invasion of Bohemia...

Yes! They will be played by me for 4 weeks now since Aerie is traveling around the world, or what he's up to. After being kicked out as Lithuania I spent last session bringing Shawnee up to speed be starting their process of westernization, only to annoy Portugal, and other countries that has made it to the new world. I'll now leave them to their destiny and hope they can push back the western powers as much as possible. As The Mamluks I intend to just follow the path that Aerie cut out for them and don't do anything spectacular.
