Hey, I'm writing an essay on the unification of Germany and I have a book covering the 1866-1945 period already, but I lack good sources covering the 1818-1866 era, does anyone know any good books covering that era? I have a had time finding any good books in Swedish or English available online

A good book? No. But Golo Mann's History of Germany since 1789 has a simple overview.

Try downloading kindle for windows and browsing through the free history books. There are large communities who translate copyright free books to kindle format.

best book by far on the period:

"Zwischen Habsburg und Preußen" by Heinrich Lutz from 1999.

But it's in German, and it's in paper only. It's also not one long narrative (like Golo Mann's book) but more of a scholarly book, which covers different periods and different topics, chapter by chapter. It's the deepest and richest book on the period that I know of, and you will find it a treasure trove if you can read it.
