One line summary of your issue
The game always crashes during the initial loading screen.

What platform are you running the game on?
PC, using the Xbox (Beta) client and its Game Pass.

What operating system do you use?
Windows 10

Which version of the game are you running?
V1.300 / latest patch (no precise number because I can't progress past the loading screen to see it)

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I have played the Invasions DLC previously, but recently I cannot start the game without it crashing on the initial loading bar. The last time I succesfully played was yesterday when I exited the game by selecting "Exit Game" on a tactical battle (probably irrelevant). Problem could be a result of a random patch but I have no idea. The dump file says this about the exception:
Unhandled exception at 0x00007FF8D3CA730E (xgameruntime.dll) in DMP9D69.dmp: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF


Have you tried verifying your files?
The Xbox (beta) client doesn't have this feature; I have used the repair and reset functions on the app settings screen and also reinstalled the game. This didn't work.

Steps to reproduce the issue
1. Launch the game, opening the Paradox Launcher
2. Press Play
3. Wait until loading bar reaches ~60% completion
4. Crash

Yeah, it's more than a little annoying that it's taking them this long to fix this bug. We can't even play the game we paid for. Hopefully someone can provide an update. When you can't even use the thing you paid money for, it deserves constant customer service updates.

Any update on this?
We have a potential fix going out with the patch this week, that at least resolves a issue with the Product Check on our side. We're still in talks with Microsoft to identify any other potential issues that might cause this.

Hey All, I'm sorry to inform you that we've decided to hold off on the planned MS Store patch. During additional pre-release checks we've identified that the crash still occurs on start up. We're currently discussing what the best way to move forward is, and I'll let you know once we've come to an agreement.

Unfortunate.
Is there an alternative like sending a stand-alone product which could be installed locally to those of us who have confirmed purchases of the season pass and are xbox game pass users? I think most of us just want to play, and aren't beholden to what platform but don't want to pay again.

Hey Guys, small update. The patch went through Cert so we were able to test and there was some headway. The issue still occurs on the latest version of Gaming Services but not on older ones, this means that for now there's nothing we can do on our side (as MS has already released/pushed the newer version). There are some workarounds we can implement, but the decision has been made to first see if we get any further MS Support as we'd rather fix it properly in one go. I did raise the possibility of providing Codes for alternative platforms, but I don't expect much to come from that.

Wow I can’t believe this issue is still going on. I was super stoked finishing that one game that swayed you to buy DLC. Oh hell yeah this will be cool. 3 weeks later Devs still shoveling me the same garbage. TURN OFF THE PURCHASE OPTION FOR DLC IF IT IS AFFECTING GAMEPLAY. You will loose more customers than gain. Do you know what is sad? I have more time spent watching videos of this game than I actually have hours played.

Recommend everyone give feedback on the Microsoft store about this issue.
Go to the Microsoft Store.
Go to the top right near your name and there is a ... which has an option when clicked to 'Send Feedback'.
Hopefully if enough people let them know their frustration they will prioritize fixing it.

My assumption is that everyone of us who is having this issue is part of the group who didn't get the May update, so maybe this will kick them in gear.
