PC not fast enough for Speeds 1-4, but fast enough for 5?

When I started the game, which was set at Speed 1, the tooltip over the date? said that my PC is not fast enough to rum the game at this speed, and that it would run at the same speed as at lower speeds. This message was displayed as I ticked through speeds 2, 3, and 4; but when I pushed it up to speed 5, the message disappeared. What's going on here?

Isn't speed 5 "as fast as you can" mode? If that is true there should never be a message on that setting.

Just do it like me; don't bother with the game until they bring a new patch.

Well, I get that message while the game is paused, you should let the game run for a few days so the game can determine whether you can run at speed 1. For how long did you run without pausing at speed 1 to be certain the text displayed was true?

I ran it at speed 5, and at worst, it seemed only a little slower than what it was before...
