[PC] Exceedingly Long Time to Load Saved Game

This has been happening for a while now, and I finally got around to checking to see if there was a way to solve this. Sorry if this has been posted before, I looked around a bit and didn't see any solutions on the first few pages of the forum.

It appears that when my save game files get over a certain size (70MB, maybe?), they suddenly begin to take an extremely long time to load when I select them on the Saved Game tab when starting a game. Normally it takes about three seconds for a saved game to load on my computer but after I've been playing a game for long enough the time suddenly jumps up to around ten minutes. When it first started happening, I thought the game was crashing, because it becomes unresponsive, but after a reboot of my computer I just let it sit while trying to load and after around ten minutes the game finally finishes loading, and it seems to play just fine.

I was wondering if there was a reason for the sudden huge increase in loading time and if it could be prevented, or maybe it is a bug of some sort.

I'm not aware of any other such reports. There is a bug in MP when games get over 50mb, that's only size-related one I know of.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Aye, though it only started to get like that around the 1420s on my part. Haven't checked the filesize of my savegames though, so I am not 100% sure if it's related.

Edit:
My latest save game, the one with the longest loading time, is roughly 119mb in size. However, other save games come close to this size and don't take half as long to load. I.e. it probably isn't related to filesize.

I have the same issue. I can only load once, any other loading during the same session will take 5 minutes until the safegame is "selected" so you can click "play".

I often see this (at least playing the PC version on a Mac via Parallels). Initial load is fine, but if you resign and reload more than once it will sit there. I've never waited the 5 minutes; just force-quit and restart.

Ahh, yes I forgot to mention that. Saving and reloading without quitting completely out to desktop seems to cause this quite often as well, but I have lots of save games that take a very long time to load even when quitting out to desktop first.

Using the suggestion found here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...ansparent.&p=14243476&viewfull=1#post14243476 Seems to have possibly fixed the problem. I just loaded up a saved game that normally takes ten minutes in just a few seconds.
