79c ... my redline is 80c ! Are you sure it never ever gets over 80c?

And I'd say nearly 70c at idle is too high, I'd more normally see in the 30s or 40s. I see the CPU did spike to 80.1 at one point.

You could try reducing the refresh rate in that settings.txt to 60, does that drop the temps at all?


If not, or not by much, I think we do have a cooling problem here. Clean out all air vents it has (compressed air cans are good for this). Make sure airflow to them is not blocked by anything like walls, books or whatever.
If that doesn't drop the temps enough, you probably have a faulty fan or a heatsink/thermal paste problem. You may need professional help at that point.

79c at maximum,unless i run a stress test that forces the gpu to the max temp she can handle,

pc case has 8 (3 front,1 rear,2 top,2 bottom) 120mm af (air flow) fans running at max speed (1610rpm) to keep it cool and no obstructions to its exit and entrance,i known my way around computers fairly well so this is basic for me

the cpu spikes are normal,its the cores being activated and deactivated on use,

the idle temp of 67c its because i have wallpaper engine running at startup and background,ill give my pc a good cleaning later today (been a month since last i remove dust from it) to see if it lowers the temps a little

but i believe that temperature is normal,i have run stress test on furmark for 15min on max settings (vram and aa) and the max temp was 82c

hi,sorry for the late reply,was upgrading my cpu these last few days (sold mine and got a better one and a watercooler),

the gpu temps still the same even with the wallpaper engine disabled (64c on idle and 77-79c on game)

Actually those temps are 12c higher than your last report ! How can I put this ... are you sure your cooling is reaching all parts?

the temps are the same as before,if i play the game the temps goes at 79c maximum,

on idle (no gaming,just staring at the desktop) the temps are 66c

yes,the cooling is reaching everything ,fans and watercooler configured to push and pull the room air (25c room temperature,ventilated)

front fans pull the room air in and the rear/watercooler, top and bottom ones pushes the hot air from pc out

Well, I don't know what else to suggest. I still believe those temps are too high and causing your problem, but if they get up there with that amount of cooling ... !

Hallo y'all, just letting you guys know, i'm experiencing the same issues, my current config is a Ryzen 7 2700X and a Radeon RX580 Sapphire, my temps are fine and i did a fresh windows install (without AutoKMS or any other piracy stuff) trying to solve the Stellaris problem and it persisted, in my case, all the usb ports and Ethernet port stop working after the "windows disconect device" sound rings about three or four time in quick sequence (just like a faulty graphics card trying to work), my game keeps running and time keeps passing, no problem with graphics glitch or anything, and i can even turn my pc off by pressing (not for 5 seconds) the off button. I'll upload my Diagnostic files for you.

Ps. I have a practice that i'm not entirely proud of, but i tought that i could be relevant to this topic, before buying a game i always try it, being it a demo version or a pirated cracked one, i must assume that i tried the Stellaris pirated version for about a week before buying the game, and this problem happened in that version too.


Ps2. I didnt noticed any pattern in the crashes (clicking something, a event, maybe a autosave) i'll try to pay more attention to it, but for now, it looks completely random.

What actual temps are you seeing for GPU and CPU after running the game for, say, 10 minutes?

Does this affect HOI4 and CK2 also?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Hey AndrewT, my CPU temps are stable at 46Cº min and 60Cº max, my GPU temps are stable at 48Cº min and 50Cº max, tested in 10 mins of gameplay and then again at 30 mins of gameplay,temperatures were the same.
My PC handles both CK2 and HOI4 perfectly without this problem, it also runs Imperator with no problem, this only started happening when i started playing Stellaris, i also played other paradox games without any problems, Cities Skyline and Prison Architect (altought i believe they dont use the same engine).

I see you are in borderless mode - do fullScreen or windowed make any difference?

Just updated my driver for the optional one, i never noticed any difference between playing in fullscreen or windowed, but i'll play some hours today and test them, i'll return to this forum after getting my results, anyway, thanks for the attention Andrew.

Tried to play Stellaris again today after not touching it for a long time. After about two hours I got a BSoD.

On the BSoD? No, it went away too quickly. I had the bluescreen for like 1-2 seconds and then my PC automatically restarted.

RealTek? Really unexpected if that is the problem!

Try uninstalling the existing RT audio driver, and rebooting. Windows should detect the hardware with no driver and offer to install one; accept that and see if. that helps.
