[PC] Complete PC crash on game startup

Hi, I posted a few days ago with sine problems with the last beta, my laptop would completely shut down while the game was starting up.
Following downloading way of life and the latest patch the game loaded no problem. I changed the date a few times, and at the old gods start date it crashed.
Following that I loaded the game up again and got a runtime error and the computer completely shut down.
Now I am trying to start the game but it keeps crashing my entire PC.

I have alread disabled trees and lowered the resolution/made the game full screen, but they have had no effect.

[edit] to update; it did run at 1024x768, but this is ugly considering I have been playing at 1366x768 for years

And I have no intention of doing this.
[Edit again] Ok having tried increasing the resolution, it now no longer loads on lower resolutions, instead it completely crashes the pc again

Any ideas?
Or can we expect an update which sorts out this, I have noticed the game has run poorly since Charlamagne...

Also Please try a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

It'd be worthwhile getting an update for that sound driver too.

If those don't help, Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 20 minutes' play. If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

Thanks for the assistance.

Unfortunately this model of Asus laptop doesn't work with the latest drivers, it causes the screen to become black...I think because I replaced the original.

Unfortunately I couldn't get readings because the PC would crash on startup. - I have had problems with overheating in the past.

I think the problem was I was switching the game to 'high priority' on the task manager prior to loading it. I have since left the priority and changed it once it is fully loaded and seem to be having no problems. Played a few times for about an hour without problems.

Thanks very much, for the time, I am appreciating the new UI and Way of life stuff

When software is developed, it is done so with current specs. If you video card driver was perfect, there wouldn't have been an update for it. It's a known fact that the older video drivers have issues with newer games.
