Hi,

My friend and I have recently purchased this game, we are trying to play multiplayer but whenever we attempt to connect we are given the wrong version error.

On the launcher screen I am given the correct SPSR(?) checksum but when the game launches it always changes to GJGJ. We have both reinstalled and validated our files but the same issue keeps repeating. His game lists the correct checksum on the launcher and in game. I've searched through this forum and we've both been googling for the last hour but have had no luck finding why this issue happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we purchased the game specifically for multiplayer, thanks!

EDIT: We both all the DLC and Mods disabled.

This is the second report I've seen of this, I don't think we tracked down what the issue was in the previous case.

I assume this hasn't always happened since you've had the game. Do you have any idea what action or event triggered the change in checksum?

It can only really be that some mod or modded files are activating, even if you don't have any mods selected. Please try a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

Thanks for the reply! This is actually the first time we've attempted to play the game, so I'm not aware of anything that may have triggered it. He purchased the standard CK2 version while I purchased the steam pack with all the available DLC (though I have uninstalled/disabled it all) which is the only difference between our two versions.

Edit: Fixed! I'd been following the guide for a clean install that involved removing the documents file and deleting local steam content before re installing and verifying but hadn't realised there was also lingering files left over in the steam/steamapps/common/ck2 file. I've removed these and re installed again, this time it's correctly giving the D00P checksum on the launcher and in-game. Cheers for the help :)
