[PC] Black Map

Hello i recently bought CK2, from Amazon installed in steam in i get a black map, i was try reinstall, delete settings.txt and i still have the same resutl, sorry if the problem is posted already, i was searched but i cant find nothing, sorry my lackluster english, thank you

Did you try solutions #6 and #7 in the sticky "known issues" thread above?

If they don't help, please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the "Sound devices" section for brevity), settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

Ok i was try #6 and #7 and the black map still there, attached the files you need,heres is the checksum line

Hmmm, well that looks basically fine except the video driver is a bit old - check with Intel and/or Dell for a newer one.

Update the video driver, clean reinstall and i have the same problem , any suggestion for this thank you

These are just going to be guesses, but try editing settings.txt - make it fullScreen=yes, draw_trees=no, draw_postfx=no and gamma=80 . If that sort of thing doesn't help I'm pretty much stumped, this problem seems to be unique to your machine.

Interestingly I get a similar effect trying to play CK2 on a Virtual PC incide VMWare Fusion on my Mac (except my map is entirely black), which I just put down to the (emulated) video card not being good enough. What exact model of Dell and especially what Intel chipset is in it?

Edited the settings.txt and get full black map, i have L502x, and the chipset is Intel HM67, thank you for the help

So that's the Dell XPS 15 L502x? That says it has an nVidia video card:

NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M 1GB DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2GB DDR3

not the Intel one that shows up in your dxdiag.:

I was just trying to determine the actual capabilities of it.

You might check with Dell for any available bios update too.

There are some laptops that have two video cards (one Intel, one nvidia) and you can switch between them, is this one of those? Because otherwise I have no explanation for what you are seeing there. If it is, try switching to the nVidia one.

Sorry to burst in here, but what does the draw_postfx=no affect?

I am curious because I turned off trees and I also set rivers and water to no b/c I don't see what animated water of any kind adds to the strategic depth of the game. But then you don't see any river at all and many of the central ocean tiles become blank.

Worked, problem solved i has to force to use de nvidia card

Great! Many thanks for the tip. I had the same issue with the black map. This saved the game for me Set the nVidia card as default for the game in the nVidia control panel and the map is working now.

Yeh hmm i have the same problem but i have a intel i5 proces m460 i tried those things but didnot work? any help
