PC: 0xc000007b Error after purchase.

I played CKII during the free weekend on Steam and just bought it through GG today (they still have the sale). While it was working fine before it now fails to launch and I have an 0xc000007b error.
I've been through all the troubleshooting I can but can't find the problem. I have reinstalled .net, c++, dx; run chkdsk; run a registry cleaner and even added the dll's usually associated with this sort of error manually.
I'm not sure what else I can do. Is there anything else I can do?
I'm running Win7x64.

If that doesn't help, please try installing:

Then: visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all .NET updates/patches it wants to, for all .NET versions.

I forgot to come back to say I did all the troubleshooting suggested here and everywhere else I could find but couldn't fix the issue. I have no idea what changed within the week from the free weekend to my purchase but I did a fresh install of Windows (upgraded from 7 to 8) and it is working now. I have just bought the DLC pack as well so while I have no idea what the problem was it was with my PC not the game.
