There is one problem with allowing RMs with a human controled country. It can lead to your country becoming a vassal. In a game where I created an alliance and played any country that I wanted to in the alliance I came back to play Hessen and found that they had become a vassal to England.:( After that, I made sure that I didn't become too friendly (+180 relations) with anyone unless I was trying to vassalize them.:) I think you should RM anyone but one of the human players countries unless making one of them a vassal is allowed. The computer is going to have a lot of time to do what it thinks is best so everyone better be careful how chummy they get.:)

Joe

Joe,

That's a good point about the RM leading to becoming someone's vassal. I'm not looking to make a vassal out of any of you(and I don't think the Venetian AI could)...but...as a general opinion...I think making someone else a vassal is okay if you can do it. It's pretty hard and the human player can break it before getting annexed (hopefully). If you do get annexed...you could always restart as someone else. I think Venice is the only one small enough for the AI to consider becoming someone's vassal...OR...to be devoured in two bites right now. BTW, if the Venitian AI continues to force annex nations, I won't have to worry about high relations with anyone.

Sooo...tell me what you think...RM or no RM between mighty Castille and Venice?

BTW, I think it's funny that the country that usually goes Protestant (Sweden) says "RM until your heart is content":D

Oh yes, vassalizing and even diplo-annexing an opponent is most certainly allowed. That's part of the fun (for the one vassalizing). Being diplo-annexed would, of course, be the end for your country. Then you have the option of starting up as a different country or just saying to hell with it.

Backpack,
Beware of what you wish for. I might just carry some of my long-boats over the hills and into the Black Sea. They're very scary:eek: !

Backpack considers saying something smart _ssed and childish like, "They are scary...what with a picture of RtR on the sails and all...yikes...who wouldn't run away from that?!"...but...thinks better of it and keeps his mouth shut...:D

Oops..did I just post that???:) :)

Later guys....Alex

Naval Attrition

Got in last night and took a look at how Venice was doing...not bad...but...not great either. Thanks for the game Storey. I'll play my turn tonight and pass it on to boehm.

1439 finds Venice in the middle of a war with the Turks. FYI, all of my naval squadrons had to return to port immediately due to ungodly attrition. Guess the AI never let those poor Venetian sailors have liberty.

Also, the 5 year requirement definately changes my strategy. I cannot fight a war with Austria/Hungary and rely on the Venetian AI to take provinces instead of ducats in the eventual peace treaty...interesting challenge and limitation.

Okay...nose back to the grindstone....ouch!!

yes its a bit of a problem that u have to finish your wars within your five year turn otherwise u cant be sure to get any provinces unless they happen to be core. (its my impression that the AI is ok at demanding core provinces, but if they arent core then the AI is often quite satisfied with some ducats)

I'm interested

I'd really like to try it as well, sounds very entertaining. I'd love to see how the computer screws up my country in the time i'm not there. Which also means I won't choose nipon.... I've seen what the computer does with nippon. They have no clue how to deal with 20% rebelion chance on each province...
But anyways i'm really interested in joining one of the games.

What to do now??

dear Backpack, Storet & RaulTheRunt...

what do u think I should do now that its my turn? ...I mean Im pretty sure that if I really put my mind to it I could probably hurt atleast one of you really bad....so what are your intentions? Are u planning to all jump me again?

If your intentions are purely to hurt France...well then I probably cant please u (not willingly anyway!)...but if u have other less aggressive goals then perhaps we can come to some sort of aggrement?

For France:
I was going to PM ya before seeing this post...but...since I have nothing to hide...I'll air it out here. Venice should be done playing in Western Europe for a long long time. Our house is burning to the ground around us as I write this. I expect to get my butt kicked by Hungary and lose some provinces in that war. I don't think Venice can handle the additional BB points for DoW's without CB's. Our rep is very bad already and we still need to whittle Hungary, the Turks, and Austria down a little. As stated previously, I want to work in the Balkans, Black Sea, Italy/central Med, and maybe colonize. If France goes to war and takes back their provinces in France, I won't retaliate. However, peace and state gifts to Venice during their current war would even produce an ally if France looks to expand eastward in Europe.:) I have seen the strength of the dark side and am powerless to resist its pull.:D If Venice gets mauled or heaven forbid completely snuffed, Francisco will continue to fight even if that means he goes into exile with another nation (maybe the Pope) and dedicates himself to freeing Veneto and reestablishing Venice as a separate state.

For Spain:
Please send ducats since we gave up the opportunity to stick it to the Turk again and then stripped our country bare to rip the gorilla off your back. We could really use some extra funding now (besides you're rich).:D Sidenote: I cannot believe Aragon would not grant military access when we were both at war with France, had +124 relations, I had no port in the area, and was suffering from naval attrition. Also, Spain signing a peace treaty once I was sieging two provinces and causing havoc with 15K cavalry lead by my General deep in central France was a real problem.:( Suddenly I got a lot of attention as Spain, Aragon, and Navarra jumped ship and all the European minor nations stood around looking at their shoes mumbling things to each other like, "Yeah, Venice...do you know that guy?...I don't know him either...well...lets go get a beer or something before we sign that peace treaty tomorrow with France." The last 2 years of that war were painful. BTW, I found it interesting that Burgundy and England didn't capitalize on the opportunity to stick a spear in France.

For Sweden:
Hi, RtR...bet it's cold up there.:D Your alliance goes to war again and again and again and...well...you get the picture.:D They must be trying to conquer somewhere warm for a vacation spot.:) Cyprus is still available:)....probably a bad idea though since I have a CB on it. By the way, I suspect the AI does not experience the same war exhaustion as a human player since there were only 2 French revolts during my 5 years of this 15 year continuous war against France.

Th-th-that's all folks,
Backpack
