Me and Gezeder also had an idea.

If we wish, at the end of the game we can find "judges" to rate each country on a scale of one to ten to find the winner. This wouldn't be hard to find :) Or I just thought of this one - we could start a poll :) I am sure a mod would oblige us.

Are we going to have treaty breaking rules in place?

Something like:

Only one DOW against a player per turn? (Including player allies)

I think this would be appropriate. It's not THAT likely to happen in a five year turn game.... but... well, storey can probably attest to the need for this rule with boehm around!

:D

(That having been said, I don't mind if we don't play with this rule, I'd just like it sorted before we start :) )

Are we playing with ai edit yes or no??

I have finished my turn and can ship it on as soon as I have all the email addresses and know if we play with ai edit or not?

Ill open an AAR tomorrow...here is a quick & dirty update:

Spain had two objectives:

1) securing its position as #1 on the iberian peninsula...hence, Granada & navarre was annexed and Portugal had to give up Oporto, Azorez & some Tps and a lonely colony.

2) Maintaining the balance of Power "cough cough" - or just plain "France is evil!"...hence, Spain did its very best to try to hurt France...France gave england 2 provinces and Spain 4 provinces...additionally Foix and that-other-land-leader-guy was killed, almost all french armies were killed, stability -3, and France is still at war with Naples and the Austrian alliance (Austria isnt really doing anything about it since its quite busy with the rest of the world)

ohh yes and Spain got 50VPs for the discovery of America! :D

lol,

I said:

"Only one DOW against a player per turn? (Including player allies)"

I think this should be okay. It means you can break treteas etc all you like.... but you're only allowed one Declaration Of War per turn.

Under that rule, Treaty Breaking is fine,

I only used the phrase "Are we going to have treaty breaking rules in place? " to lead into the suggestion of a set of rules....

I assume everyone's familiar with other taboos too? Like,

- No moving through allied players territory and attacking natives to deliberatly burn an allies TP?

- No loansharking

- No DOWING small nation A, conquoring it, then claiming heaps of CB territories from large nation B

Er.....

Those are the main ones I can think of. I suspect we are all genlemen enough to play fair, but mabye someone should cut & paste rules from another aar?

ok just send out the turnfile...including the ai file...please remember to paste the ai file into the ai folder. - wyvery I dont have your email address yet...

for anyone interested here is how u edit your aifile:

1) take an existing aifile and edit it until it feels right...then save it using some name lige eg. mine is called "boehmspain.ai"

2) go into the savegame file and find your country...edit the line:

ai = "whatever.ai"

to

ai = "somename.ai"

thats it! - the edit itself is pretty self explanatory...the usual stuff to edit is the list of "target countries", agressiveness, prefered areas of colonization, send-trader-rate, ....

I've sent a PM to boehm with my email address.

The rules and comments made so far sound good, esp. like the suggestions that if a player is knocked out he can only re-enter through another team member releasing a position as a vassal.

I don't think so. Are you talking about e.g. Sweden vassalizing Russia?:D Russia (human) can break it as soon as they can/want.

Yah I say Sweden is allowed to vassalize Russia. :)

Vassalization should be fine - we are playing major countries after all. Big boys can take care of themselves. :D And we can easily break the vassalization before we can be annexed.

Our team has agreed that Gezeder will be heading the Franco-Iberian ;) Empire.

It has come to my attention that there is an ambiguity in our rules. In order to do away with any confusion, I say lets clear it up now.

Are we not allowed to break a treaty made with a human player?

Or

Are we not allowed to dow the same country twice in one turn?

I mistakenly thought they were the same, but realized, no they are not.

Spillover wars will mean that if Austria is playing her turn, and leaves at war with the Ottomans, and the Ottomans make peace, then under 1 she can NOT declare war. Under 2 she can.

So which is it?

I assumed 1, but others may have assumed 2. Just to clear it up. Since it wouldn't of affected Boehm anyways (he being the first player), it shouldn't matter all too much. Although Gezeder can't dow Austria if we are playing with #1, since they would have to make a treaty during his turn for him to do so.
