This is a detailed account of a Grand Campaign vs AI set as level 2. I'm playing as England, if you haven't guessed it yet
This is going to be the first full campaign I play, however I did Russia to 1720 so far, but didn't keep an account.
London - January 1492 the King (Henry VII) has asked me to council him in his affairs. I immediately took to work recommending a base of operations in the Mediterranean before anything else, but beyond this I had no time to consider yet. We took action...
1492 - January
Hannover and Brandenburg offered royal marriage and I 'proposed' that the royal family accept both. General Norfolk moved to meet Colonel Pembroke in London with the purpose of boarding Commodore Kensington's Home Fleet and sailing on Tunisia (being the most likely location at this time, and perhaps for a long while to come) to establish a British presence in the Mediterranean. This is a gamble. If we can't take Tunisia and return Norfolk to face the scots in time for any aggressive moves by them, there will be no joy in fleetville!
February 15th
Norfolk embarks for Tunisia with (14,900/3,980).
April 1st
Colonel Bedford takes command of The Marches with (6,000/2,000).
July 17th - Poland-Lithuania sent a declaration of war to the Teutonic Order.
October 10th - Russia (Denmark) declares war on Kazan.
October 11th - Kensington's Home Fleet arrives Cape Bon, England declares war on Tunisia. The Nobles were quite concerned with this action...Stability -2 (to -1).
November 11th - Norfolk lays siege on Tunis, Kensington engages the Tunisian navy at Cape Bon.
November 28th - Kensington defeats the Tunisian navy taking 1 transport as loss.
December 1st - 1st assault on Tunis by Norfolk, it is a failure. Minor losses, Tunis garrison loses (1,662/0/3). Results known on December 30th.
* With 1492 behind me, the coffers fill again and now at 156D. Nothing as yet has been heard from the French or Scots, but the dangerous situation is still gnawing at me like a tick. As much as is possible is thrown into the training of the Home Guard. I chose The Marches and London as the rally point for the 2 main armies of England. Eastern Europe is in flames, but all is quiet in the West. I only hope that Norfolk can defeat the Tunisians in time for France's and/or Scotland's response to our stability problem. I have no doubts that we will be hearing from them very soon now.
- 1493 -
January 1st - 1,000 recruits ordered for the King's Guard in London. The Marches receive another (6,000/2,000) for the wall. Calais is defended by 1,000 staunch men of England. Reminds me of the heady days of Agincourt! (Although I pray that Harry's men suffered less diarhhea than I am plagued with right now). Norfolk reports plans for the 2nd assault on Tunis in March.
February 4th - Teutonic Order pays 67D in reparations to Poland-Lithuania.
February 23rd - Turkey declares war on the Mameluks (Persia).
March 1st - Tunis at (-4) Norfolk's 2nd assault commences.
March 15th - 2nd assault fails. Tunis at (-5).
April 1st - Colonel Newcastle placed in command of the King's Guard in London.
June 1st - Tunis at (-7) 3rd assault begins.
June 17th - 3rd assault fails.
July 19th - Tunis garrison surrenders to Norfolk! Tunisia is annexed into the British Empire. Revolt risk is 2%. Large garrison left behind. Kensington's boats port in Tunis for reprovisioning. 10 gallions were captured in the annexation.
September 13th - Kensington's Home Fleet weighs anchor for the marches. Colonel Crawford is left in charge of the garrison force of (9,000/3,004)
* Well, it took 2 years, but we have a shaky foothold in the Mediterranean. I'm slightly less nervous now, but nothing would hurt our efforts more at this time than a French fleet killing Norfolk en-route home. This is still a dangerous time. I have ordered some stomach salts.
- 1494 -
January 1st - London Guard adding (6,000/2,000).
The current feeling between His Majesty and I is that we should develop (4) offensive armies to counter the Scottish plague to our north. The armies will rally in The Marches, Yorkshire, Lancashire and The Midlands. Each will be comprised of (20,000/5,000). The strategy is that the Army of the Marches will proceed directly on Lothian with the Army of Yorkshire moving up to engage the certain Scottish counterstrike on the Marches. Once the battles in Lothian and the Marches are won, The Army of Yorkshire will move on Strathclyde in pursuit, defeat them again, and lay siege there, while the Army of Lancashire moves on the Grampians and Army of The Midlands moving directly to the Highlands. This should quickly annihilate the Scottish forces and lay siege to every location in enemy territory. The fleet will maintain sea superiority operations off Inverness in the hebrides. If all goes well, Scotland will be annexed into the Empire in January of 1503. The war is set to begin March of 1501. The King is pleased with this plan.
May 13th (1494) - Kensington has arrived and Norfolk is now in charge of the Army of the Northern Marches.

May 26th - Kensington sails to kent to drop off his transports. We will most assuredly lose Calais in this fight. Our prayers are with Cavendish and his 1,000 men in Calais.
*Midnight -> The King summoned me and ordered the evacuation of Cavendish. Straight to work, I realize we are cutting it very close. Gayden, now in command of the transports sails for the Straits of Dover with Kensington's fleet covering....
June 1st - Cavendish is embarking on the transports now.
June 8th - A French warship patrolling the coast has spotted the transports! Kensington reports he is now engaged. Kensington (10/0/0) French (1/0/0). Should be no problem screening the withdrawal.
July 1st - The merchants, unhappy with the conduct of the war thus far, protested to the King. Half have withdrawn support. Until this battle is resolved, Cavendish is stuck in Calais!
July 6th - Ten to One! And Buckingham still lost the battle! Cavendish is lost for sure. Buckingham has been ordered to appear in the Royal Court...from the neck up.

August 10th - Cavendish arrives in kent! The people fill the docks in celebration!
August 22nd - Kensington retreats to Kent. So far a single French warship has engaged 33 British warships and won all 3 battles. *3am -> The King summons me....
August 27th - the entire British Navy is bottled up in Kent by a single French Warship. The King has been yelling at me for 5 days. I have taken action. The 4 galleons left and the transports have been ordered to Gayden's command and secured. Buckingham and Kensington both arrive at Court. (their bodies were disposed of in the Kent countryside - their heads guard the entrance to the Naval Ministry). Commodore Glendale has been placed in command and is now training the 23 warships in Kent for action. He has informed me they will not be ready until November.
November 1st - Glendale weighs anchor, Gayden sails for London with Glendale's warships in escort through the Straits of Dover. The King's Guard will now be available for sea transport should it be required.
November 12th - Glendale has found the infernal Frenchman in the Straits of Dover again and has cleared for action.
November 13th - Milan was annexed by the French! God give strength to Spain in this endeavor, we are in trouble.
November 21st - Commodore Glendale has sunk the infernal Frenchman! He is proceeding for the Channel now...
December 2nd - Commodore Gayden, of fine English stock, proposed to me this evening of the landing of the King's Guard in Calais. He directed my attention on the map to the minimal French fortress in Picardie. I immediately drew up the orders....Gayden sails tomorrow for Dogger Bank.
December 7th - Gayden arrives at Dogger Bank... Newcastle's King's Guard is embarking. (9,000/2,000)
December 11th - Trouble brewing. Glendale arrives in the Channel to find Tadoussac's Escadre Blanche of 11 French warships. An engagement is sure to follow...
December 22nd - Newcastle has boarded Gayden's transports and they are en-route to Calais. Escadre Blanche is silent.
December 28th - Escadre Blanche has been lost. They seem to have left the Channel area. Glendale is moving to the Straits of Dover to cover Gayden's transports.
* After reviewing the situation, the King has ordered the continuation of the plan to annex Scotland beginning in March 1501. The Army of the Northern Marches is finished, The Army of Yorkshire is now forming.
- 1495 -
January 1st - Manuel I is now King of Portugal. I have ordered Gayden to wait for Glendale to clear the Straits of Dover before proceeding with the operation. He sails January 8th.
January 19th - Glendale reports Grammont's Escadria De la Mancha of 1 warship in the Straits of Dover. I ordered Gayden to continue the operation.
February 8th - Gayden arrives Calais and immediately sails for London under cover of Glendale's fleet. Newcastle moves on Picardie. Once Gayden passes the Strais, Glendale is porting to reprovision and then back to the Channel.
February 22nd - Newcastle initiates his siege of Picardie!
March 4th - Gayden's transports have cleared the Straits, Glendale porting Kent.
March 9th - Gayden in London, Glendale in Kent.
March 15th - Glendale sails for the Channel. Timely intervention -> the French were observed moving forces to relieve Picardie when the Spanish arrived at Paris with 17,000 men and laid siege. 42,000 French moved on Paris and were beaten back! We averted a disaster...hats off for our Spanish allies!
April 10th - Glendale's 23 warships have engaged a single Frenchman in the Channel.
April 17th - Glendale retreated to Southampton. Word has it he paces the deck, his face ashen. As I sit by my fire reading Shakespeare, I am summoned to the King...I quickly find cotton for my ears and go with the escort.
April 22nd - Glendale arrives Southampton. Sutherland has been promoted Commodore and assumed command of the fleet. He doesn't look at all well as the guard marches by escorting the bloody bag bound for London. A splash is heard on the starboard side....
May 1st - Cavendish moves to London to guard the King. Only Sutherland's fleet keeps southern England now.
May 15th - The King is furious as I show him the ledger, orders 15 tax collectors. The plans for Scotland are moved out indefinitely. Sutherland unable to sail until July, these are dangerous times indeed.

December 6th - Picardie held again. Valiant men those French...
- 1496 -
January 1st - The 1st 3 tax collecter appointments are made in Connaught, Ulster and Meath. Although I disagree in that the Irish will be none too happy about this I know it must be done. Sutherland porting Southampton. The French appear to be marching on our Spanish allies in Faix with 75,000 troops. My intestines seem to be the only thing working in the Empire these days.
January 6th - Picardie fortress at (-9)!
February 1st - Sutherland moving to station in the Channel.

December 13th - The long Russian-kazan war has ended with Russia receiving 137D in reparations.
- 1497 -
A man named John Cabot came to see the King today begging His Majesty's leave to be blessed for a western excursion to find the lands that the Spanish brag about. Harry gave him his leave and promised Knighthood for riches. I personally escorted him to his ships in harbor and then went to the London training grounds to review the valiant men leaving for Newcastle's siege this year. The 4 galleons under Gayden's command have been transferred to Cabot's expedition. Munster has a tax collector on the way. The forces under Cavendish in Normandie (13,180/1,254) have marched for the defense of Calais. Newcastle has retired in honor to his lands. He has been greatly rewarded for his service to the King.
***With the end of war against France, plans turned to adding tax collectors to every province, establishing colonies in America including building Philadelphia (in Delaware) to a city. A set time for the invasion of Scotland had not yet been determined, first things first, but the construction of the armies continued. Currently the Empire was strong. Tunisia and Picardie added with minimal loss and the reputation of England was rapidly spreading. My thoughts turned north to Scotland, but I was soon to learn that another war would interrupt our plans. In the end, we were facing yet another 16 years before I felt we were ready for the Scots but, as you will see in time, England is never really ready for the Scots. But that is another story.
***Sorry about the lack of screenshots, I just figured out how and have the 3 areas of the British Empire of 1536 to show later on. You'll just have to trust me for now...well, at least Henry VII does...

This is going to be the first full campaign I play, however I did Russia to 1720 so far, but didn't keep an account.
