Playing as Byzantine, trying to get rid of those catholic one-province nations that own my Orthodox land. The patriots don't do anything. I've been sitting here for years and the defending forts are still at 0%.

Some dumb gameplay change or is this a bug?

Yeah, the defending nation is unable to build troops and when I load the game up while playing as them it says the city is under siege.

fyi whenever I incite patriots it keeps forming one unit of infantry and nothing more. Is it because it's only one unit sieging the city?

Shouldn't be. The city will be sieged and progress should be made if the numbers of the besiegers equal that of the defenders. If it's lower then that on the other hand, then the city will be sieged but no progress will be made

As someone who just got lucky by having all of ireland (English & Vassal-occupied) join him (Connacht) though patriot revolts in ~1430, I can definitely confirm that patriot revolts do work. But if they don't even successfully besiege the city.. well, maybe they are indeed not numerous enough.

Level 1 forts

Also, some more information:
-Bought it on steam
-If the game spawns the patriots on it's own then the patriots are effective and everything works fine, it's just the patriots that I incite that don't work

http://rapidshare.com/files/322138278/Byzantine.eu3.html

The patriots in question are in Rhodes. Their current progress is 25% because I tried to bribe defenders to see if that might, I dunno, knock it loose so the siege would finish itself. Didn't work.

Are you kidding me?

The sieging army isn't 1000 strong so the siege doesn't work?

If I remember my patriots correctly though, they should replenish and then be able to carry out their misdeeds. Or that may perhaps only be the Pretender rebels

Only Pretenders replenish their forces afaik, however the chance of 750 Patriots sieging endlessly a single province minor usually ends with the siege continuing as soon as every other kind of rebels are spontaneously (or not!) spawned, because of revolt risk.

I've noticed that it seems, unlike past versions, that you either have the same number of attacker (sieging) men than defenders or the siege will never progress, instead of progressing with a proportional smaller speed. I could be wrong, however.

The province is under siege (the owner cannot acess the city screen etc.), but the siege cannot make progress.

Sieges never made progress if you had less men than the garisson.

Sieges never made progress if you had less men than the garisson.

I'd swear I played at least one version/patch back from eu3 1.3 with just (but potentially very high) reduced progress time in the case of less siegers than the garrison.

But I repeat, I could be wrong. I guess my memory is no more the one from the good old days ;).

It's actually quite stupid if you ask me. History shows that rebellions grow over time and should be more then capable to replenish their forces. Patriots, Nationalists and Religious should have a really good replenish speed, why pretender are favoured here escapes my logic

Yup, I have 1.3 and remember sieging Avingnon (lvl 3) with 1.000 men. However it took ridiculously long, so I grew impatitent and sent my main army there:D

Er have there always been Particularist Rebels? They reinforce apparently, even though Patriots and Nationalists don't.
