Is there an estimation, when Patch 1 will be released?

If you read the dev diary very carefully he says.... "We are now working on a patch which we aim to submit to QA within 3 weeks"

So I assume it will be mid/late October. Sucks because i'd really kill for the diplomacy usability changes now rather than in a month when i'll be on to a new batch of games. I'm sure i'll come back to Sengoku eventually though.

If we're lucky they will have a beta patch before then

Rather they do it right than fast, but would REALLY like it fast AND right.

Paradox is pretty plugged in to the community, so I'm sure the new patch will address fully the bugs/balance issues.

But in all seriousness I agree, a rushed patch will just break more things while probably not fixing the errors we have now.

I believe that was what is called a "0-day update" or " release update". Another advantage of digital downloads is that the publisher can squeeze in updates to the original game installer up to the last moment before release, and that was one that made it into the game installer just before it went live, or the game installers on all the retailer sites were quickly updated to include it without needing a separate patch executable.

So you probably already have it. Check the bottom of the game menu screen and it will tell you which game version you have (1.01c) and the checksum.

I guess he missunderstood this part :
"We have several great ideas for next week [...]"
"The goal is to give you another update next week"

Those might have missleaded to think that next week an update (can also be called a patch) will be out. ("another" as I read correctly, there was one right when the game was out.)

Anyway Zarine is right, I thought the update would be the patch not the update to the DEV diary.
