Very good changes, I like this patch.

The only thing I'm not sure I like, is that lava terrain seems to damage flying units as well? It would make sense that they're immune (but you could argue that flying over a volcano is bad for health :p).

Overall I like the new terrain effects very much, and I'd love to see even more detail. It would be interesting if specific sites such as magic fields had an effect on units in the hex or on spells cast in the hex.

they didn't miss em, barren jsut give no modifier wahtsoever and jungle&forest are no terrain type but kind of a feature. as soon as you put a building on a jungle or forest tile, you just have a regular tile with its regular bonus (plains f. e.). its like this:

plains: +20% food
barren: ---
desert: +20% mana, -20% food
icy plains: +20% gold, -20% food
(there are tiles called plains but lookin icy which get the icy plains bonus, too)
lava: -50% mana/food/gold, +3 upkeep, 2ED/turn
swamp: +1 upkeep
hills, jungle, forest: like the underlying terrain

True. But they need to indicate what the underlying terrain is in the mouse-over (is a little hard to tell between barren and plains).

So, after a bit more play I can say I really like the mana discount when over your own territory, it gives a nice tactical element to the game.

Trading spells really enriches diplomacy, I visit the diplomacy screen more than just to ask for a few turns of peace to better crush my opponent afterwards.

I've noticed that allied AI players ask you to go to war with their enemies, not sure if it's new in 1.3. Unfortunately you can't request the same thing from them, will we be able to do that soon?

EDIT: Another thing, the city summary screen has a bug where the tooltips sometimes appear behind it. Also, it would be very nice to show what each city is building.

Does anyone know if the AI is dealing with other AIs with spells? And if yes, do they do this a lot?
From what I've seen AIs treat the player and other AIs pretty much on an equal footing. They fight each other and I'm pretty sure I've seen them slinging spells (Weakness in particular) at each other's units.

Sorry, my fault, what i meant was trading, not dealing. I know they cast spells on each other, but do they trade spells via diplomacy with other AIs since the 1.3 patch? Or does only human players and AI trade, but not AI with AI?

I gotta say this game made me laugh and rage with the new patch. Unit gets hit for 23 damage 1 health left! I can save it and all the spells invested on it.. retreats to lava and autodies, nearly punched my computer. Then I did the reverse to an ogre later on and all was good.

* Monsters will be willing to enter portals – from both sides.

What does it mean? I mean, the monsters moved through portals also from the beginning, especially if some unit entered already inside. Whats changed now with this matter?

I agree- If possible, extra details would be great!

Since this patch, I've experienced a new bug: sometimes, units just dont want to cross water hexes. It says "umpassable terrain". But, if I save the game, quit it, and load the savegame again, the bug stops to happen.

It shows up quite randomly, after some time of gameplay.

It is definitly a new bug in the v1.3 (I would say the major bug of the v1.3 because it is frequent and anoying) and need fixing, workaround when it happens: entre the save game menu, save it, load it and its fixed, until it rehappens.
