Please do consider this request for an improvement with the next patch, it would REALLY be appreciated.

Thank you.

I don't remeber where the thread was, i'll explain it a bit :

A HQ will auto retreat when engaged in combat, but will trigger the "no movement cooldown" which can be reduced by a land doctrine, thus delaying the advance of the attacker, without any cost for the defender. Just pop a bunch of HQ and you delay the entire ennemy army at virtually no cost except some IC in manpower and some officers, if you decide to dedicate some IC and leadership to it.

nah quicker

here are a few I picked randomly from changelog:

- rebalanced naval casualties and convoy raiding detection
- fixed several crashes (including multiplayer theater one)
- Fixed corrupted events when loading savegame in scenario mode.
- in air mapmode selecting units highlights their range indicators and dims others which makes it work much better when there is a lot of air bases
- fixed issues with puppets peaceing out with their masters
- ai wont use party boosting on random countries it arent hostile to
- Fixed black gaps over the invalid lake provinces in scenarios.
- added prepare_for_war decision for small nations to lower their neutrality (player only)
- Doubled time and cost of underground bases
- larger hull size now make disengaging from combat more difficult in naval combat
- Reworked how the AI stockpiles supplies a bit
- improved tech & production ai for a few countries. helps ai china a lot and also ai soviet
- Mobilised nations at peace, are unmobilised when game is saved and reloaded.
- when having multiple units selected you can now hold down shift and click the selection arrows. when shift is released all other units are deselected.

This is something that I love/hate about HOI series. Everytime I start a game, every time (maybe not 100%, but 90%), I see a patch note... and it contains a few items I deem quite strong in terms of game balance. Just to pick one, which I'm not sure of it's true "impact potential" but having the underground bases take twice as long and cost twice as much. Sounds to me like this is some serious re balancing. So I can keep playing my game now, fully knowing that I'll most likely encounter some balancing issues. OR... quit, patch, and start a new game...

The worst was pre or post Semper Fi, when the AI was having these insane WW1 face offs around certain straights. Or the one where the US was only building convoys. Everytime I see these types of posts, I double check my game to see if they are occuring and most of the time they are. You should have seen my face with my GER game when I saw that the US had almost no navy except a sea (haha) of convoys. All that planning/organization gone to hell. :(

This time, i don't care. I'll finish this damn game! :p

BUT! The issue of the underground bases really comes into play with a human opponent and it has a serious snowball effect. I easily got to the point within months where I could spawn an 80 division never ending uprising that I could refill with new divisions (until I ran out of manpower) just about every week.

The AI on the other hand, doesn't really do this.

Anything about hitting the Support Party spy mission with the nerfbat? It's far, far, too effective. As Germany I was able to, after 1 year, annex Austria and bring the NS part to power (over 60% popularity, 50% org) in Romania, the US, France, and the UK. In 1 year. And all those nations have a 0 pop 0 org NS party at the start of the game. That is way overpowered, especially since the AI won't support their own party or counter my spies (this a bug too maybe?).

Indeed, that is a problem, but such grand strategy / historical simulation game is hard to balance.
It needs to be tested in different situations by many players before reaching maturity and full reliability.
That doesn't change the fact that you are right, continuing a game when you know that a better version of the game exists is really frustrating.
I feel the same way each time we are playing a Multiplayer game and we release a new version of our mod during this game...

I can only imagine the smiles on so many faces right now.

I would be smiling if it wasn't for the "small enough" clarification. It doesn't help to start a war if your country is too small to win one.

Yes, it is pretty horrible that I can't play as Cuba and destroy Germany. I am very upset at this fact that I will need to complain when other people are happy about something

- Reworked how the AI stockpiles supplies a bit

;) Really hope this also means no more need for manual supply convoy handling (e.g. especially UK ai not starting supply convoys to tons of useless locations -and thus running out of transports?) or the rework also improves/corrects supply/fuel shipping with manual convoys (e.g. If a supply convoy is manually started to a port -with capacity left- containing units -ships!- in need of supplies/fuel, an actual transportation of the needed goods is started).

You have to admit though that it's a step in the right direction.

You bet.

I wouldn't characterize my previous remark as a 'complaint', I'm just saying I won't get excited until I see what happens in practice.

:D I've been a bit pre-occupied with work and then I took a vacation to visit some WoW guildies that got married and just had a baby.

Married in-game and the "baby" was a newly rolled low level char?

I love the patch features, especially the select 2 units from a group feature. Long overdue so its lovely its in this time!
