After the lastest patch i have been unable to play it plain doesn't work it starts up goes to the first loading screen and says searching database and crashes and it been this way since the patch i have update VC++ redistributable packages and update .NET. ive also got no mods installed and i got this from error log [gfx_dx9.cpp:2187]: GfxCreateTextureFromFile failed with error: Invalid data

Try a full clean reinstall:

If this is Steam: move any valued save games elsewhere and uninstall the game from within Steam. Then manually delete ALL the CK2 directories from under BOTH the Steam and MyDocuments folders. Now reinstall the game from Steam, and run the Verify just to make sure it all came down properly.

If this is GamersGate: Move valued save games elsewhere, and uninstall the game. Manually delete the CK2 directories from where GG put them and from MyDocuments. Reinstall the game (this time pick somewhere NOT under the system path c:\program files\ ), download 1.111 patch again and apply it.

Okay this cant be a try 1. wont that delete all my saves ive played like 199 hours cant be losing my saves 2. it takes something like 6 hours for me to download crusader kings the first time my internet has actually got worse since then so i need a definite yes that this will work im not prepared to sit for 6 hours and this not work

I explicitly said to move your saves elsewhere first, didn't I? So no, it won't delete them from where you've moved them.

If you don't want to try my suggestion, well, perhaps you can describe what you will do? Will you delete a file or two, if I ask you to? Will you run a Steam verify? Post information about your machine? Update drivers and other files? I need to know what kind of thing you will allow me to suggest before wasting my time posting stuff you refuse to do.

Well what he told you to do is sure way of him making sure the game will be fresh install with nothing wrong in it. Most likely cause of thatkind of crash is game files that got corrupted. So only way to fix something like that is to reinstall the game with the steps he stated. You can also try the verify integrity of game cache funcion in Steam if you have that version. You can find it by right clicking over the Crusader Kings II on Steam's library page and chose properties -> local files -> verify integrity of game cache. Steam will compare the game files to those it has on the server and redownload those that aren't correct. If it claims to be finished in few seconds do it again as it should take time. If this doesn't help reinstall with the steps provided by AndrewT is the only thing to do.

So you do have Steam, did the Verify Cache that Wezqu wrote about and uninstalled and reinstalled the game like AndrewT said ( uninstalling the game from within Steam and manually deleted the CK2 directory in Mydocuments) ?

You need to tell us, we can't see what you are doing, what your PC is like etc. Every system is different. Its understandable your unhappy, but the probelm can't be resolved if all you do is rant.
Sounds as if you are on a 56kb modem or have quite bad internet connection. That's unfortunate and not as normal anymore nowadays, so nobody could know that for instance.
If you done all that, at least we know now that its probably not a corrupted download, while the error message you posted was suggesting this.
