I really do not understand your insistence to defend PI..stalingrad is in the wrong place ok?..it is important place in WW2..so, why do you tell us "mod it" instead of how such a detail couldn't be seen by programmers..assume that I do not now anything about modding and hate mods made by gamers and paying money for the game..then what? I just tell my complaints about a game which I think to pay for..

tell me this. does the location of stalingrad, right now, in this very moment, 05.08.2009 ~13:25 really matter ?
you wont get there in the demo one way or another and it is such an obvious issue that it will get fixed with the release day patch.

for the time being this really is a minor issue

and as i said before, if you read through Singletons Soviet AAR you will notice that he doesnt mention a wrongly placed stalingrad in there so chances are this slipped in after the beta.

yes you are right, stalingrad is a minor issue, I accept..but it is just an example..what I criticise is your attitude to pass over everything we dislike with "mod is coming,,patch is coming"..The game is coming on 7th and there are many game upsetting things, the most important one being huge lagging(including my computer which runs EU3 very smoothly)..then I just want to say I am disappointed because demo is much below my expectations..I will not say that oohh patch is coming, so everything is OK..

There is one simple solution: dont buy it now and wait major fixed issues proof.
That will be my personal choice and I am big fan of HOI2 and i dedicated many times to help CDCP.

What´s up with all this mapfanaticism?
Why would the game be better of worse by change the name of a province for another?

If you are not happy with the HoI, why not go and buy WitP:AE or a similar turnbased game instead?

I agree, a patch on release dates is really amusing, yes ofc the development of the game does not stop but hell - a patch that fixes cruical bugs on the release date? That is just hilarious anyway you look at it imo. Not saying I don't appriciate it though.

Indeed. Not exactly solely a Paradox issue though. However more apparent on their games and they have rightfully earned their reputation with unacceptable releases. And somehow magically the patches they release afterwards are deemed as a service to the fanbase to collect the PR points.
Internet fucked up everything. Half-arsed releases were actually the minority, and patches just fixed gameplay bugs. They weren't mandatory. Now it's like some standard.

Not how Paradox patches work:p, it always adds 0.1 each time or goes upto a new figure with an expansion eg 2.0, 3.0 ect.

not true, eu2 patches atr 1.04... 1.08 109 ;)

Imo when they release patch with optimisations for lag, it will help a bit for those who got low/medium computers, the ppl with better mashines will expierence the same little lag. Just I think so.

i dont think they are releasing a patch to fix peoples lag issues at all. they knew about that from day one of beta. they are fixing little bugs in the game recently found still.

Unfortunately, soemtimes it's more than just name - there are whole regions that have wrong terrain making significantly different strategic choices (un)available.

It's a simple matter of timing isn't it - the boxed games don't teleport magically to the shops but will need a couple of weeks to be made and shipped out to thousands of local dealers.

Since you obviously have a internet connection I fail to see the problem - when installning the newly bought game the release patch will be there. IMHO waiting several months after release to adress critical issues is another thing (Windows XP or Vista anyone :)). /M

Well as a student majoring in Computer Science with specialty Software Engineering and Quality Assurance I think I do have at least a CLUE what I'm talking about.

there is theoretical wisdom and practical wisdom ... so long have you been developing computer games .... ?

sorry if Stalingrad is several hundred km off it's original location in a ww2 game, critisizing it isn't mapfanatism, it's outright embarrasing for the developers. Nough said. If you guys love it so much, go ahead preordering it, fill out a blanko check to paradox and a free barrel of beer along with it for all I care but let people who have a problem with this complain about it since that's what a forum is for.

i have to admit stalingrad is, hmm, how shall i put this, not exactly a point that shines but the magnitude of that bug stands in no relation to the amount of time you spend crying about it.
and as i said before, at this point the location of stalingrad is completely irrelevant since you wont get there in the demo one way or another. come release day and release day patch and its still at the wrong location thats a whole different topic but right now, at this very moment it simply doesnt really matter.

Just because you are studying computing doesn't mean anything, but my point was you have no idea what was or was not noticed by the betas. Since you weren't involved and it's NDAed there's no way you could know.

but let people who have a problem with this complain about it since that's what a forum is for.

Surely you can see that argument applies both ways though? Sure you can say what you don't like, but it's equally valid for others to reply about how they don't think something is a problem, or even what they like about the game.

Also, you've been posting all day about how much you hate HoI3, you've also said you aren't going to get the game and that you never intended to get it either, so you just seem to be complaining for the sake of complaining.

No. Before widespread use of internet, games had to be made to work, no excuses or you lose business. People didn't patch then because acquiring a patch from some friends progressive neighbour, library or random demo CD was an issue of itself.
It's not internets fault per se, it's developers fault because they can release unfinished games and use it as a channel of their sloppiness.

No. It seems it was in the wrong place in the beta too. But anyway, to me it doesn't matter (at this point). Lappeenranta is in wrong place, Koivisto is for some reason called Primorsk in the game, Terijoki is Zelenogorks and it's in the Russian side of the border... But I don't care, these are all so minor issues (to me atleast).
