Yeah... Almost the same game with new number like The Sims with same dlc. It is obvious that we would have "new" dlc for ck3 called Wrath of Odin... and so on. If you do not like dlcs, just do not buy them. I enjoy new content and do not expect ck3 before rome 2 and vic 3

Sadly I wouldn't expect Rome 2 for awhile... but yes there better be Victoria 3 first! I wouldn't be surprised if CK2 takes a major back seat when HoI4 is released, and then completely gives way once V3 is announced. Which, before I get disagreed into oblivion, is fine because the next game after Victoria in the major title cycle is Crusader Kings.

IMO, the old gods should have been the last DLC. The 5 DLC since then haven't really added anything necessary to the game. That was back in 2013, they could have had 2 years of CK3 development by now. Also, imagine how nice some of the mods would be now if they would've had a stable base game to work off of for the last 2 years instead of spending time "updating" the mods every time a new DLC is released.

BTW, this thread sucks and should probably be closed.

I dunno, SoA had some pretty good changes. I also like a lot of other things added in the other DLCs, even if things like the CM start date wasn't "necessary". It doesn't mean they would have started CK3 right away either. They'd have moved devs over to Stellaris, or HOI4, or V3, or Runemaster even. PDS has so many different games in its catalog that they wouldn't go straight into CK3. Not to mention a 2 year live cycle seems REALLY short for this business model. Hell, EU3 was longer than that and it had the old expansion model.

Yep, that matrilineal marriage bug business is why I haven't touched CK2 since the current patch came out. In my personal mod, female rulers marrying nobodies normally when their realms have either Absolute Cognatic, Enatic-Cognatic, or Enatic succession is a definite immersion breaker for me.
How very sad that your matriarchal fantasy world is being disrupted because the devs won't stop working on fixing real issues that affect players who play the actual game as it was intended!

Paradox, your current hunting mechanics are disrupting my canine-ruled Barkspania empire in my personal mod! When is there going to be a patch?

The modding is only part of the problem.....
as said above, its in the base game as well....
So now even the Bassilia of Byzantium, last of her line will marry some nobody. I think that's a tad immersion breaking, don't you?

I'm aware of the issue, but I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill, probably because a) we shouldn't be expecting dynasties to last the entire 700 years of game time, and its ironic that this expectation is now embedded in the player base and b) negotiating your children's dynasty on marriage is a CK2 affectation in any event (and indeed even having a dynastic name isn't the norm for a significant part of the period in many places).

I'm sick of seeing KARLING splayed over the map in 1100, or Isauros over the ERE in 1000. And I'd rather like to be able to change the dynasty I'm playing through regular marriages sometimes......
But at present we can't expect these things because the game encourages them to happen. In-game, it is ridiculous not to have matri-marriages when agnatic-locked realms are stuck under the one dynasty until the realm is destroyed.

Changing Dynasties through some sort of game mechanic?

If done in an intelligent manner it could be interesting and enjoyable.

Geheimnisnacht does this pretty well, but I don't remember how they modded it in exactly. They also have a couple of factions that can "adopt" courtiers and make them their children, giving them their dynasty.

That is another matter. Adopting a character or making a character of a new random dynasty is very easy, AGoT does it as well, it's just one small line of code.
Lizardmen and Witch Hunters use Open Elective so that regardless of dynasty of the ruler inheriting the player has no game over.

I was being flippant SIl :p The point I was making, was that it is quite easy to remove the dynasty end game over thing. Hell you could do cadet dynasty's easy enough with an on_death action switching to open elective if you had a courtier or vassal with a bloodline trait/flag.
