Sorry to double post, but I'm pretty sure that Sweden has a mandated summer vacation. It's not like the devs just dropped 2 expacs (DL and CS for EU4), flipped us all the bird, and went and got drunk. It's pretty tough to tell your employees that they don't get a vacation this year because there may be bugs in your DLC releases.
Hmm then fair enough they cant plan when they take vacations, but they can plan when they release an expansion. I think it would've been better they released the expansion after they got back.

Oh definitely. I wasn't defending the timing, just the actual vacation itself. It sounded to me like a lot of people (not necessarily you) have been blaming the devs for being unprofessional or lazy for taking a vacation after releasing a DLC. It should have been the other way around.

They might have been damned if they do and damned if they don't then with people bitching criticizing that Horse Lords wasn't released and that they have to wait a whole month for it, with the way some of the forum can be I guarantee it in fact.

This is really off topic....

So is there or is there not a significant bugfixing patch coming soon? I'd like to go back to playing Game of Thrones please. No I won't roll the game back, I want to play the version of the mod with Horse Lords stuff added.
No, don't expect any more patches until the next DLC.

I and the I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people here would rather wait for a decent expansion rather than what was effectively the late beta of an expansion. Or they could've of waited longer before announcing it. Regardless it is their responsibility to plan effectively.

Without a doubt but it doesn't change the fact that there would still be a decent number of people complaining none the less. I also have the sneaking suspicion that the released it when they did so that the players could find most of the bugs and such so that they would have less work to do fixing it which is true is kind of crappy but makes sense from a developers point of view I suspect.

The QA staff specifically says "Ah. After some testing I noticed that the case is that they only trigger if you're a subunit leader and not if you're a flank leader. Could be an effect of the combat changes for HL. Nice find!".

This was on the 28th July. So at least one member of the QA team has been aware of this issue for two months, but Groogy says "With regards to siege on actions, they are working as they are supposed to according to QA". Confusing o_O

Perhaps Groogy is talking about the internal beta, not the public version?

I think that is likely the case. I do recall in the captain to the rescue thread, Gars was made explicitly aware of it and the broken scripted trigger initialization which cannot read any traits. These bugs are pretty damaging to be honest and have been well publicized singe the release. It is next to impossible to imagine they have not been fixed already.

For months? Last patch was one month a go, and we are not holding up patches for a longer period of time. We simply do not have a policy of giving out patches every week "just because". We will make patches and give them out as quickly as possible if we see the need for them. But yeah sorry for the silence, I won't take a vacation ever again.

With regards to siege on actions, they are working as they are supposed to according to QA and from what I can see I don't find any errors in it. Unless there is some specific trigger they are using we are unaware of and don't use in our own events I don't know what could potentially be the problem.

Great, so you basically killing your own game... Great job, devs. See you when CK3 comes out, I guess...

I for one am not playing the game at all, basically haven't since the 2.4 updates.

Waiting for the patch.

I'm basically doing the same thing. Some may call it silly, but I have a way that I want to play the game and watch things unfold, but can't because of the currect state of the game's AI. I want play the game with custom culture and faction that treats its males and females equally. However, I get a more than a little frustrated when an AI stupidly agrees to give up its dynasty's only holding by not seeking matrilineal marriage for their female heirs. Again I know some may find it silly, but I want to play with an intelligent AI that knows how to preserve it's dynasty's power. Espeically if they have Entic or Entic-cognatic succession.

Unfortunately this has always been the case. The reasons for "would prefer a matrilineal marriage" is only around 4 or 5 "-" which can easily be offset with the prestige that the spouse would bring and opinion. Unless they put more "-" for that in the reasons, the AI will always be bad at marrying. I tried asking what file I had to edit to mod it, but no one was able to provide an answer.

For example "desires a better alliance" can't be offset with anything else, so if matilineal marriage had the same negative reasons, the AI would be perfect at avoiding houses being extinguished because of very poor decision making.

It's hard coded behavior, and there aren't any defines affecting it, so there is no file to edit short of disabling the marriage diplomatic actions and writing replacement targetted_decisions... which since they'd be scripted instead of in hard code, would increase lag even more.

Well that is unfortunate. I doubt Paradox will change the system, so nothing can be done about it then.

Yeah I'd that once before and search hard for it in the game's core files, but such things are sadly hard coded. It would be great, the game measured such things based on succession laws. Agnatic and entic successions making it more difficult or easier to marry one gender over the another, and absolute cognatic making it equally difficult to marry an hair of either gender, with prestige and relationship bonuses being able to just barely overcoming the negative. In terms of marriage finding spouses for your children absolute cognatic succession would have the highest level of difficulty, but could also have the benefit of making it easier to keep individual dynasties isolated to single provinces, thus stifling your vessels ability to grow in power and better securing your own.

For example "desires a better alliance" can't be offset with anything else, so if matilineal marriage had the same negative reasons, the AI would be perfect at avoiding houses being extinguished because of very poor decision making.
As far as I am aware this is slightly wrong. At present if you did that every single AI female would marry some nobody normally. Matrialinneal Marriages are being completely ignored in the current patch. Even Empresses are marrying lowborns non-matrialinneally!
This is also the reason why I have delayed work on my Amazonia mod - the major changes I'd like to bring round still rely on AI matrialinneal marriages.

Yep, that matrilineal marriage bug business is why I haven't touched CK2 since the current patch came out. In my personal mod, female rulers marrying nobodies normally when their realms have either Absolute Cognatic, Enatic-Cognatic, or Enatic succession is a definite immersion breaker for me.

It's this, all this. PDS really needs to start work on CK3. CK2 is almost 3 years old at this point, and is obviously reaching engine limitations. It may not be the ideal end of life for the game, but how long did people honestly think they would be putting out DLCs? 5 years? More? I'm not calling for PDS to dump CK2 right now, but hopefully they are talking internally about this at the least.

IMO, the old gods should have been the last DLC. The 5 DLC since then haven't really added anything necessary to the game. That was back in 2013, they could have had 2 years of CK3 development by now. Also, imagine how nice some of the mods would be now if they would've had a stable base game to work off of for the last 2 years instead of spending time "updating" the mods every time a new DLC is released.

BTW, this thread sucks and should probably be closed.

Yeah... Almost the same game with new number like The Sims with same dlc. It is obvious that we would have "new" dlc for ck3 called Wrath of Odin... and so on. If you do not like dlcs, just do not buy them. I enjoy new content and do not expect ck3 before rome 2 and vic 3
