Ok Ive ran 3 test per version on each machine between version 1.06 and version 2.4.4
Start date 1066 end date 1100 (34 years), observer mode,no auto saves.
I5 4670-3.4ghz,16 gb ram,GTX 760,Windows 7 64 bit
Version 1.06- 8 mins plus but under 8 mins 30 secs
Version 2.4.4 -25 mins plus but under 26
I7 4790-4.0 ghz,32 gb ram,GTX 970,Windows 10 64 bit
Version 1.06- 7 mins,always within a few seconds of 7 min
Version 2.4.4- 21mins-22 mins .
The hardware upgrade did improve performance but it still takes 3 times as long on either toaster. I can afford the new rig, actually purchased it for this reason, most people cannot and imo that performance increase would not be a justification to upgrade from my previous machine .
The game is not unplayable,it just gets very unenjoyable trying to play a game longer then a few hundred years, something you used to be able to do on even older rigs.
The engine is straining trying to run this thing now
I do not believe China can or should be added unless its a option that can be toggled on and off.
There are some things that you can do in the filess to increase the performance,I can get the i5 system to under 20 mins with changes to these.
Increase natural death rates
Increase the disease modifiers
Change male/female attraction cut off dates
Change menopause age
Change marrying age
Change fertility to second wives/concubines,unmarried lovers
I added a negative 10% to fertility to all the religions in India,200 years later India is still held by Hindus,Jans etc but just a lot less of them,I think it works really good here becasue India just does not interact with the rest of the map on its own very often.
I also changed the Event_process_offset which is how often(days) events are checked for people and provinces, its set at 20 I changed it to 40.That change alone was about half the performance increase,Ill need to run a few games and see if there is any noticeable or unwanted effects from it.
