I'm not really sure what to suggest to you on this since I'm not sure of the exact differences between EU4 and CK2. Perhaps EU4 is more graphically demanding and you need a better video card.
It's just opinion on it being unplayable mainly (mainly that it is slightly laggy at times for me but it runs just fine really.)

Whatever your specific complaint, it is still a far cry from being unplayable, which it would be for others if the trade-offs implemented after ROI were reversed. Rather than crying for them to "fix the lag", you should be lobbying for them to launch CK3 on a 64 bit engine sooner rather than later.

It's this, all this. PDS really needs to start work on CK3. CK2 is almost 3 years old at this point, and is obviously reaching engine limitations. It may not be the ideal end of life for the game, but how long did people honestly think they would be putting out DLCs? 5 years? More? I'm not calling for PDS to dump CK2 right now, but hopefully they are talking internally about this at the least.

If you've been able to play to mid-game (to know that it is lagging), then no, you are not entitled to a refund. Steam gives refunds if you have played less than 2 hours, if you have played to mid-game then you have played lots more than 2 hours.

I said it lags but gets worse and worse till its unbearable at mid game, CK2 is like this (and its even longer than HOI). And idk about you but a game of HOI3 for me takes like 10 hours to complete. So what you are saying is after spending $50 for a realistic WW2 grand strategy game. I am entitled to only play 5 hours of it and its okay if the events that make it a WW2 sim dont work? Dude get out of here, you are either a troll or such a fanboy for PDS that you think it is ethical for them to take your money and skimp on the quality of the product you bought. Again people like you are ruining gaming, you probably think its okay to put micro-transactions in $60 game or to release crap like the Batman Arkham Knight port. Idk where you live but it must be miserable if everyone just lets businesses do what they want.

And you don't?

It was a joke, you and him have been calling me entitled this whole time. Then you say stuff like this. I just spent $15 on CK2HL little over 2 months ago and I want the problems that are there fixed (which is not entitled you guys are just insane). Yet you guys want them to drop CK2 entirely and make CK3 which is significantly more inconvenient and expensive then making small patch. So no I am not entitled like you two have been saying, you guys are.

Ok Ive ran 3 test per version on each machine between version 1.06 and version 2.4.4
Start date 1066 end date 1100 (34 years), observer mode,no auto saves.

I5 4670-3.4ghz,16 gb ram,GTX 760,Windows 7 64 bit
Version 1.06- 8 mins plus but under 8 mins 30 secs
Version 2.4.4 -25 mins plus but under 26

I7 4790-4.0 ghz,32 gb ram,GTX 970,Windows 10 64 bit
Version 1.06- 7 mins,always within a few seconds of 7 min
Version 2.4.4- 21mins-22 mins .

The hardware upgrade did improve performance but it still takes 3 times as long on either toaster. I can afford the new rig, actually purchased it for this reason, most people cannot and imo that performance increase would not be a justification to upgrade from my previous machine .
The game is not unplayable,it just gets very unenjoyable trying to play a game longer then a few hundred years, something you used to be able to do on even older rigs.
The engine is straining trying to run this thing now
I do not believe China can or should be added unless its a option that can be toggled on and off.

There are some things that you can do in the filess to increase the performance,I can get the i5 system to under 20 mins with changes to these.
Increase natural death rates
Increase the disease modifiers
Change male/female attraction cut off dates
Change menopause age
Change marrying age
Change fertility to second wives/concubines,unmarried lovers
I added a negative 10% to fertility to all the religions in India,200 years later India is still held by Hindus,Jans etc but just a lot less of them,I think it works really good here becasue India just does not interact with the rest of the map on its own very often.
I also changed the Event_process_offset which is how often(days) events are checked for people and provinces, its set at 20 I changed it to 40.That change alone was about half the performance increase,Ill need to run a few games and see if there is any noticeable or unwanted effects from it.

I am not pushing for CK3, I am able to endure the lag without complaint. I am realistic about the limits of the game, and enjoy it as it is (and mostly play using Lux Invicta, which lags even worse than Vanilla.) It is you and others like you who can't endure the lag who should be pushing for CK3, because (as I have explained up thread) most of it can not be fixed while staying with the current engine.

And you are the one that has been claiming that you should be entitled to a refund, if I am not mistaken. If that isn't sounding entitled, I don't know what is.

I don't know anything about siege triggers, but I find this policy of Paradox about holding up patches for months for no reason to be really tiresome.

While unfortunate the devs do have a life you know, they are entitled to and allowed the same things as everyone else including vacations and breaks etc.

Is not like they are flat out ignoring everyone just because they can or anything, they're all on vacation.

I'm pretty sure they're all back from vacation, it no longer being summer, and most likely working on the next DLC.

Of course they can have a vacation. However it is their responsibility to make sure their vacation is at an appropriate date, and not say, right after the release of an expansion.

This, this, 100% this. CK2 is coming up to almost 4 years now, and I'd actually be happy if they released one more expansion/update for CK2 and then just focused their staff on newer games.

He's not exaggerating. Even on my rig, GTX 970, FX8320, 12GB Ram this games slows to a crawl around 100-150 years into it.

Your problem is the CPU. My rig is very similar, GTX 970, FX-8350, 16GB RAM. CPU and RAM are almost entirely irrelevant; the bottleneck is CPU because CK2 does not support multithreading. So instead of spreading the tasks out over all eight cores, it hammers one core (core #5, oddly enough) with everything. Intel CPU's run CK2 better because they typically handle single-core processes better.
I'd be interested if anyone has a Skylake CPU and is willing to run tests similar to what Grish did earlier.

This is really off topic....

So is there or is there not a significant bugfixing patch coming soon? I'd like to go back to playing Game of Thrones please. No I won't roll the game back, I want to play the version of the mod with Horse Lords stuff added.

I obviously meant CK2 should be dropped right now, screw the problems. You really struggle with building a valid argument don't you? Of course I want problems fixed, I just don't think that I'm OWED a fix INSTANTLY by the devs just because I bought their product. That is entitlement, and it's what you've been stomping your feet about this entire thread. I do love your "no you" argument though.

Of course they can have a vacation. However it is their responsibility to make sure their vacation is at an appropriate date, and not say, right after the release of an expansion.

Sorry to double post, but I'm pretty sure that Sweden has a mandated summer vacation. It's not like the devs just dropped 2 expacs (DL and CS for EU4), flipped us all the bird, and went and got drunk. It's pretty tough to tell your employees that they don't get a vacation this year because there may be bugs in your DLC releases.

Ya ,sorry about being semi off topic, its just that performance was brought up as an issue and I was trying to show I dont think theres going(able) to be an official fix to that issue. It is what it is at this point.

I think the thing that broke the mods wasnt exactly known by paradox till the first or second page of this post was it?
Id imagine they would want to bundle some fixes/tweaks together in a patch instead of releasing a bunch of single fix patches .
