Patch 2.3.2 Question

Posted this in the main forum then realized there is a tech forum.

I have Rome Gold installed to a non default directory. When I click on the downloaded patch 2.3.2 it tells me "Europa Universalis Rome Vae Victus is not installed"

I tried running it from the directory the game is installed as well. Same result.

Is there a different patch for Rome Gold, or a way to direct the patch to the non default directory?

Where did you buy Rome Gold from? You must get the patch from the same place; the patch downloadable from here is only good for the Paradox or GamersGate editions, not Steam, Impulse or anyone else.

Thanks that did it. I bought it from Direct2Drive but downloaded the patch through the game's interface. Kinda strange, but solved, and I appreciate that.

Each supplier uses their own game installation procedure, and marks the installation with a different registry key than the others do. So the Paradox version of the patch only looks for the registry key the Paradox/GamersGate version of the game created, it doesn't know what key people like D2D, Steam or Impulse use.

I got the disk for gold, is that the Paradox version or does the disk have a specific code or something to that affect?

That's the Paradox version, and the 2.32 patch that the Launcher downloads will work with it. Did you not find that it worked for you?

I don't think it instaled when I tried the first time. The second time I tried it said it was corrupted. Is there somewhere in the menu to check?

The version # and checksum should show on the main game menu. But some folks can only see it when going to start hosting an MP game.

But if it said it was corrupted I'd believe it; delete that download and try again.
